Her Secret

Chapter two

Maddy awoke to Draco kissing her forehead softly. She opened her eyes groggily and sat up to see him walking out of her dorm room. "Hey, thanks again for being there for me" she called after him "No problem" he saud as he turned around and smiled at her then walked through the door and into the slytherin commons room.

Maddy went to stand up but quickly felt her stomach lurch. She ran into the bathroom and proceeded to vomit her dinner. She shakily stood and walked to the sink to brush her teeth and get rid of the horrid taste. Maddy lifted her shirt and stood sideways looking at the mirror above the porcelain sink. She realized that she would be the size of a whale in a few months she placed her hands on her stomach and let the tears that had welled up flow. She missed Fred more than she could bear and was scared at the thought of raising a child all alone. She quickly discarded the thought from her mind and wiped away the tears. She then swiftly got dressed and brushed her teath.

Maddy quietly walked into the great hall, which had been partially destroyed in the war but was still in good enough condition to eat in. She made her way over to the slytherin table and sat down next to Draco. "Hey" he said with a mouthful of food "How did you sleep?" "Rather well thank you" she said with a little bit of a smile. Just then Hermione Granger walked in trailed by Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. She expected Draco to make snide remarks such as filthy mud blood, weasel, or potter but he surprisingly didn't. She smile at the thought that he might have changed for the better "What are you smiling about?" he questioned "Oh nothing" she said. "Hey are you okay I noticed your not eating anything?" "I'm fine I'm just not feeling great but I'm sure it's nothing" she assured him. "Look if this is about Fred I'm sure he wouldn't want you to starve yourself just because he's dead" he said "I'm not! It's really just a stomach bug or something okay?" "Okay.." He said but the way she snapped at him made him wonder if it really was okay.

The next day Maddy met her three best friends Arianna Tonks, Lily Longbottom, and Leah Creevey at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. Even though everyone was celebrating the victory of the war Hogsmeade lacked it's usual cheeriness and glee. It had been raining all week and today was no exception which added to the gloominess. As Maddy was walking she looked over and saw Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Fred and and George's joke shop, and had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from crying. She finally arrived at The Three Broomsticks and sat at her favorite table in the corner near a large window. Arianna, Lily, and Leah walked through the doors laughing so she put on a fake smile and said hello. "Hey Maddy, how are you?" Lily asked concerned "I'm absolutely fine I'm just sick of people asking that" Maddy said with a light laugh. "That's a relief I was worried you would be a mess or depressed or something" Arianna continued to go on and on which was typical of her when she was in uncomfortable situations. "Arianna stop" Leah said with a grin. "Okay okay.." Arianna mumbled. Maddy laughed a true laugh for the first time since Fred had died.

They had all talked endlessly about ongoing boy friends a and silly things like that while drinking hot butter beer. Maddy finally got up and left saying "I should probably leave I'm feeling rather tired" she said with a small smile and then said goodbye and left.

When she finally got back to Hogwarts she went up to her dorm room ready to crash from exhaustion and found Draco pacing her room anxiously. "Where have you been!" Draco demanded "I've been worried sick. I thought something had happened to you" he said embracing her in a tight hug. "I'm fine" she said against his shirt "I went to Hogsmeade to meet Lily, Arianna, and Leah" she said with a loud yawn. "Okay" he said "you know you can tell me anything right?" "Of course" she said reassuringly "but do you mind if I go to sleep now?" "Of course I don't mind" he said and then he gently kissed her forehead and said goodnight. Maddy collapsed onto her bed with a loud sigh and fell into a deep sleep dreaming of Draco.
