Her Secret

Chapter 8

When Maddy woke up a few hours later after having just taken a nap she looked over at the table next to her hospital bed to see a crystal vase full of blood red roses that must have been enchanted because they sparkled like a thousand rubies. She smiled and reached over to pick up the note attached to the vase by a satin ribbon. Maddy opened the creamy white envelope. She giggled as thousands of tiny multi-colored butterflies flew out of the envelope and circled her in a whirlwind of light feathery wings before vanishing into thin air leaving a shower of glittery dust that floated down around her and settled on everything around her. She looked down at the small piece of paper left and started to read the delicate black scrawl of ink against the cream back drop. The words brought tears to her eyes.

If I had to choose between loving you and breathing

I'd use my last breath to say

I Love You

It was simple and not the most clever saying in the world but even so it still meant more than anything to Maddy because she knew he meant it. A few minutes later she saw Draco walk through the door. Maddy smiled and greeted him "Hey there handsome, how was-" but she stopped when she saw the expression on his face. He had a cold menacing look plastered in his face and his brow was furrowed. He noticed her staring and quickly hid it and put on his best attempt at a smile "Fine. Did you rest well?" he said and gave her a chaste kiss but before he could pull away Maddy deepened the kiss and smiled against his lips. When Draco tried to wrap his arms around her she pulled away "Not until you tell me where you were!" She said teasingly. "It doesn't matter" Draco said darkly "Do you want to watch a movie?" Maddy asked trying to lighten the mood. They had ended up watching a muggle movie called "The Best of Me" which was rather sad but just before it ended Arianna, Lilly, and Leah burst into the room.

"Darling how are you!" Arianna gasped smothering Maddy in a hug "Hows the baby?" Leah asked concerned "How long are you going to be here?" Lilly asked frantically. Maddy felt overwhelmed with all the questions. She took a deep breath, untangled herself from Ariannas hug and said "Im fine and so is the baby. Madam Pomfrey said I can leave in the morning" " Oh thank heavens!" they said at once. Maddy smiled a little and stifled a yawn "Do you guys mind if I go to sleep now I'm rather tired." She says yawning again. Arianna, Lilly, and Leah nodded, gave her one last hug and then left. Once they were gone Draco crawled into bed with Maddy and she rested her head on his chest as he kissed the crown of her head. They fell asleep to the beat of eachothers hearts and the sound of steady breathing.

Harry stood in front of mirror in the prefects bathroom and grinned wickedly. "I will get revenge on Draco Malfoy if it's the last thing I do" he whispered darkly and then stalked off to find the perfect spell.
