Her Secret

Chapter 11

Draco was awoken by a very persistent Maddy shaking his shoulders. "What is it?" He asked groggily rubbing the sleep from his blurry eyes. "I want you to give me the death eater mark!" Maddy said persistently looking down at him with determination in her caramel brown eyes. Draco sat up and rubbed his forehead "Hold on a second, since when did you want this?" Draco asked her quizzically. "I just decided that you were right all along." Maddy said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "No you didn't Maddy. This is about losing the baby isn't it?" Draco sighed knowing the answer. "No it's not Draco!" "Yes it is besides I don't want to put you in danger." Draco argued "So please just promise me you won't?". "Fine I promise." Maddy huffed reluctantly. A few moments of utter silence passed "We should probably get up and get dressed considering the fact that we have class" Draco said giving Maddy a quick peck on the lips. Maddy smiled a little and waved goodbye as Draco left before falling back into the pile of pillows on her bed.

Draco began to worry when Maddy didn't show up for potions class. At first he thought she had just gone back to sleep and skipped that class but after she

didn't show up for divination or defense against the dark arts he begin to think there was something seriously wrong. After Defense Against the Dark Arts ended he ran up to lily to ask her if she'd seen Maddy. "Hey lily, have you seen Maddy?" "I don't know" She said briskly since she was still mad at him but after seeing the worry etched upon his face she finally gave in. "I saw her leave this morning. She said she was had some business to take care of whatever that means" she said shrugging. But Draco knew exactly what she meant. "Thanks lily" he shouted as he ran out the door.

Maddy took a deep breath and walked up the steps of Malfoy Manner which loomed menacingly before her. She hesitantly knocked on the glossy black door. A few moments later a frazzled looking woman in a silk black dress with frizzy,curly black hair that had strands of silvery white mixed in. This woman was Bellatrix Lestrange. "What do you want love? Come to kill me have you?" Bellatrix accused pointing a bony finger at her. "No! In fact I want you to turn me into a death eater." Maddy said trying to look as determined as possible. "Well why didn't you say so darling. Com on in." Bellatrix said with a crooked smile inviting her into the cold dark mansion.

Maddy followed Bellatrix through about fifty dimly lit corridors before finally coming to a parlor furnished with black velvet couches and chairs. There was a giant black ebony fireplace at the end of the room lit with Emerald green flames. Maddy sat in one of the black wing back chairs while Bellatrix sat on the foot stool in front of her. "So are you sure you want to do this love?" She asked. Maddy just nodded. Bellatrix cackled like a maniac and brought out her wand. The flames in the fire roared higher than before as Bellatrix began chanting in some tongue that Maddy couldn't understand.

Maddy felt a searing pain in her forearm as Bellatrix traced a snake coiled around a skull in the shale of an eight on her arm. As she chanted the flames grew higher and higher until they were practically leaping out of the fireplace. Bellatrix's chants grew louder and louder until they were practically screams until finally she whispered the last verse and the searing pain disappeared. Maddy gasped and clutched her arm. "Finally for the last part of the ritual. Give me your hand love" Bellatrix commanded. Maddy held out her trembling hand as Bellatrix brought out a curved dagger and drew it across her own palm. She then took the blood soaked dagger and dragged it across Maddys palm. She winced in pain as the knife made a jagged cut. Bellatrix then whispered one last incantation before casting the bloody dagger into the fire. The Emerald green flames roared higher than ever, dancing, and leaping all around until finally it stopped. "Welcome dearie, to the dark side" a Bellatrix said with a wicked grin. "Thank you" Maddy said gratefully "I should be going it's getting kind of late" She said eager to leave. "Fine dearie have it your way" Bellatrix says shooing her out if the house.

As Maddy walked through the dark halls and out the doorway the realization hit her. Draco would be pissed.
