(Aleah's pov)
"Billie! Come here honey." I called out from my childhood closet."Yes darling?"
"Look what I found." I said with a big smile, holding up my graduation photo book.
"Aww, I remember your graduation. My baby was valedictorian." She said proudly, kissing the side of my head.
I smiled thinking back on the day as I flipped through the pages, finding a few pictures of me and Billie.
"I will never forgive you for embarrassing me that day." I said, thinking back on the memory.
"What? I did not."
"You literally shouted "that's my future wife," then when you got weird looks proceeded to say that if anyone had a problem, they could suck it."
"You know I was gonna say suck my dick but you're the only girl I want anywhere near it so that wouldn't work." She said smugly, slinking her arm around my waist.
"Is your mind always in the gutter?"
"Only when I see you."
"So that's a yes." I stated, turning around in her arms.
"Pretty much. I mean have you seen yourself mama?"
"Yes, I'm five months pregnant with worry lines on my forehead and stretch marks on every crevice of my body."
"Which I think is sexy!" Billie defended herself. I rolled my eyes in disbelief but she grabbed my chin as she often does when I'm talking down on myself and made me look her in the eyes.
"Hey, no look at me. I love your stretch marks darling, cause each one reminds me that your body worked it's ass off to give us 3 beautiful children. And your worry lines show how much you love all of our kids just the same cause you gotta be worried a hell of a lot to have lines there at 27. Especially with your genes I mean your grandma is 60 and she has less lines than my mother who is like a decade older."
"You like my stretch marks?" I asked her softly.
She nodded and smiled.
"Every single one."I smiled in return.
"How did I ever get so lucky with you?"She shrugged. "It's probably fate."
We both chuckled softly and shared a kiss. Well more like a couple kisses since we haven't really gotten any alone time all week.
"I'm so in love with you." Billie mumbled, gently swaying us back and forth.
"I am too. We're gonna be those two parents who can't stay away from each other and make all of our kids gag when we're affectionate."
"Well that was my goal anyway. I want these kids to know that their parents have, are and always will be hopelessly in love with each other and if that requires them being disgusted with us until they move out then so be it."
I smiled and we shared one more kiss before Leo came sprinting into the room.
"Mommy! Momma, Gammie says you gots to come to da kitchen so's we can make cookies!"
"Okay we're coming bubs." I told him and he went running right back out as I shouted for him to be careful. "Does he ever listen?"
"He's just excited. Come on, let's go."
"Wait. One more."
Billie giggled and gave me one more kiss before we went out to the kitchen.
Delilah was in her high chair chewing on some batter as Leo and my mom made homemade vegan cookies. Meanwhile my grams was holding Deliah yapping at the both of them for doing wrong.
"Grams if you're gonna sit there and nag why don't you just help?"
"Because I'm holding this precious little angel." She said. I payfully rolled my eyes.
"Mommy! Here holds dis. And momma holds dis." Leo handed me the cookie dough and handed Billie the chocolate chips.
"Well at least mom got the dairy free chocolate." I pointed out.
"Otay now momma gots to pour da chips in dough and mommy gots to mix it."
We spent the next 45 minutes making cookies before we all settled down to watch a Christmas themed movie to pass the time. After some bickering we finally decided on The Polar Express. Mainly because Leo wanted to watch it and no one was gonna argue with a three year old during the holidays.
Since he had a butt load of sugar it was pretty easy to keep him awake until midnight. Delilah on the other hand fell asleep halfway throughout the movie so my mom went to put her upstairs to sleep, making sure to shut the door.
"Okay, baby's asleep let's crack open that champagne!"
"Mom you are not about to get drunk with my kids around."
"I'm not! I'll only have one glass, I swear." She defended, throwing her hands up.
"Okay. But if you pass out on the stairs we are not dragging your butt up them."
It was around 11:45 so we turned on the news to watch the ball drop as my mom helped herself to whatever champagne she had in the garage.
While we were all waiting in the kitchen Billie pulled me away back into the living room for a second.
"I just wanted to thank you for giving me the most amazing years of my life. I love you, I love our kids and I love our family. It's everything to me. I'm so happy I met you and I can't wait to see what our future holds with our family." She said lowly.
"Well you're very welcome. And thank you for making me happy beyond belief and always being there for me. I can't wait to grow old with you."
We both smiled and shared a kiss before everyone came scrambling into the living room, ready to bring in the new year.
I looked around at my family--my wife with her arms around me, my mom with a glass of champagne, my grams with my son on her hip and I thought of my daughter asleep upstairs--and I could never have imagined this is how my life would have turned out.
Everything seemed to move in slow motion as we started counting down, and I could almost see the next year playing out in my mind.
Me having the twins, bringing them home to meet their siblings, me and Billie raising our kids, family game and movie nights. I couldn't wait for what was to come.
"Three! Two! One! Happy New Year!" We all shouted as we watched Times Square light up with lights and fireworks on our TV.
Billie gently grabbed my face and kissed me softly.
"Happy New Year my love, I can't wait to experience another year with you. Our lives are full of ups and downs but I have no doubts we'll be able to get through them together."
"I love you."
"And I love you."
