cara's pov

"so, cara, how's life?" myana asked jokingly, as we met at the entrance of the mall.

i pulled down my shirt a little and waited for her to walk beside me, before we started walking up the stairs.

"pretty good, you?" i laughed.

she nodded and smiled at me, while looking for good stores to stop in. finally, we came across zara, and we decided to walk in.

myana started up some conversation as we looked through the various clothing racks.

"so, how's your job? rent a girl, right? you still work there?"

"yup, i actually got on the job a few weeks ago," i stated. i picked up a grey mesh t-shirt as i spoke.

"oh, really? that's cool. who'd you get rented to?" she asked.

"well, this guy named sam wilkinson. he's really sweet, and you know, we're dating now, for real!" i said cheerfully, looking up at her for extra emphasis.

myana laughed out of happiness for me and smiled.

"but, wait, cara. you know that your time with him is gonna eventually end, right? i mean, it's your job, it's not like you were permanently gonna be with him."

i frowned at the thought. i hated being reminded of that, but i nodded anyway.

"i know, i know. i just, i don't know what to do! i really like sammy, but i can't just quit my job! how can i pay for anything?!"

"why don't you quit your job at rent a girl, and start working at the american apparel at the grove? i know they're looking for an employee, and you said you liked it there. and that way, you can be with sam regardless of your work," she said.

it took both of us a minute to process it, but i knew that it was the best idea she's ever come up with. i can't wait to tell sam about this, i know he's gonna be ecstatic.

"god damn, mya. sometimes, you really surprise me." i joked.

she nudged my arm and laughed, as we continued to look for clothes.
