It's The Holiday Season

The Christmas weekend was rather low-key for the Fullers, being that it was just the parents, the two girls, and Marc. As nightfall came on Christmas Eve, Windi asked Marc if he felt capable of leading the other four in some form of religious observance of the holiday. He went to his laptop and emailed copies of Holden Evening Service to them, which were retrieved on their phones. Around the Christmas tree, they recited and sang of the impending birth of Jesus amid the darkened skies of early winter.

Christmas Day itself was very quiet as the family exchanged presents upon everyone being awake followed by brunch made by Sarah and Katie, who had to shoo the men away on occasion as they were intent on getting their fill before everything was done. The afternoon consisted of Marc and Sarah watching the Boston/Milwaukee NBA game and the Green Bay/Cleveland NFL one while curled up together on the couch.

Sunday had a lot more activity, but was still fairly relaxing. Katie left early to hit up the Boxing Day sales and have brunch with some of her friends. Sensing that Sarah and Marc weren't planning to do much more than be couch potatoes, Brandon and Windi got out of the other two's hair for a bit, going on a short road trip to Paris.

Comfy on the couch while watching the NFL Today on CBS, Marc received a FaceTime request from Savannah. Thinking it odd, but not TOO peculiar, he answered it, seeing her with a couple of other Virginia Beach residents.

Savannah, Dani, and Maddy: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Marc: And a festive holiday season to you as well. Did I get my birthday wishes in for you, Maddy, when we talked on Wednesday?

Maddy: I think so, but I don't really remember as I've been on Cloud Nine since Thursday night.

Sarah: I take it all went well with your and Dani's announcement.

Dani: Could not have been better, even though her Dad is a little worse for wear at the moment.

Marc: So did the problem child lose his mind?

Dani: SO much worse than that. Chris (Maddy's father) tried to keep him from attacking us and got a foot to the you-better-not-touch-certain-areas-of-your-body. He then ran off, got soused somewhere, and ended up being pulled over for DUI.

Marc: I'm so sorry, ladies. I'm guessing the families and your other friends were accepting.

Maddy: VERY! The dads knew and even had a bet on when we'd confess, Jim (Dani's father) saying Christmas Eve and mine saying New Year's Eve.

Sarah: Congratulations, and thank you for putting my heart at ease concerning the ability to hold onto Marc.

Dani: Like Dana said, he never had a chance and it had nothing to do with him as a person, just my not being into guys like that.

Savannah: Sooooooo...what did our pain-in-the-books get you for Christmas?

Sarah: The first gift was a diamond necklace-and-earring set that I was able to wear for a couple of the special events at Convention last week.

Dani: They are VERY sparkly and the man has good taste in jewelry.

Sarah: The second one was tickets to see Weird Al in Richmond this summer, adding to all the traveling and celebrating and good times before we have to buckle down and get on with Fall semester and the new season. He gets to attend his bucket list concert on July 4th, with mine being on August 10th.
