Prior to Thursday's practice, Lauren met with Elizabeth, Savanah, and Danielle in her office to allow the three of them to hash out what would happen with the counter the former was giving up as a result of choosing to redshirt the 2022 season following the operation on her left hip over the summer. Lauren told Savanah that Compliance had ruled that she would be allowed expanded on-court involvement with indoor given the makeup of the 2023 beach team and the lack of a volunteer or graduate assistant coach on the indoor staff. Following Savanah accepting the student manager position, Lauren offered Danielle the open scholarship, which would allow her to play beach as well as indoor.

A host of volleyball players on and around the JMU campus spent most of Saturday hanging out in their rooms with one another. As the afternoon started to wane, thoughts would turn to the team's date night and preparations would begin.
Caroline was ready early because Chloe was struggling with picking an outfit from her closet. Because she was so concentrated on her clothes, she had yet to see what Caroline was wearing. Once Chloe picked out her choice for the evening, she turned around and got a look at her roommate's ensemble.
Chloe was almost speechless, but did find a few words to say.
Chloe: Caro.....wow! You looked good at the volleyball banquet, but this deeper shade of green on you is stunning.
Caroline blushed and looked down, appreciating the comment but not able to look Chloe in the eye for fear of acting out-of-bounds toward her. Chloe went into the bathroom and showered, then dressed and fixed her hair. She came out and struck a bit of a pose for Caroline, hoping that she'd approve.
Caroline got very flustered seeing Chloe in her outfit, because it played on all the cute parts of her that she found endearing and precious. Chloe walked over to Caroline and attempted to snap her out of her befuddlement.
Chloe: Earth to Caroline.
Caroline: I'm speechless, CW. You have touched something in me that I didn't think anyone other than Kate could, the desire to want a person not for the physical but for how her inner beauty radiates through her outward appearance. I have a confession to make. When I was on Spring break back home, I broke up with Kate. It was hard, and both of us bawled, but I had to admit that I had fallen for someone else and that it wasn't fair to her for me to string her along if I wasn't completely into the relationship. Seeing you now, I feel I made the right decision, because I can't pull my eyes away from you and want you in more ways than I can describe.
