After a successful Saturday in Sinclair for the women's volleyball team, made so by reversing a two-set deficit to defeat Virginia Commonwealth in five (20-25, 17-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-11) and sweeping Illinois State (25-23, 25-19, 25-16), Sunday's lack of practice was very much welcomed by the players. Some used the time to catch up from the first week of classes, others to get some extra sleep, with a couple enjoying the great outdoors.
As all of Sarah's classes occurred at night, she typically had nothing scheduled before leaving for practice at 2:00, which on this Monday caused her to fret a bit. The professor for her night class, SRL 515 (Leadership in Sports and Recreation Professions), chose to hold a networking dinner involving professionals from the athletic department and university recreation in lieu of the standard 6:00-8:50 session tonight and she was worried about what to wear. After going through her closet and struggling to pick something that she felt would be professional but not TOO dressy, she went down and asked Savannah and Liv if they'd be willing to help her. The two of them returned with her to her room and offered their opinions on the options she had, eventually advising her to wear her black jumpsuit as it was stylish but something in which she would be comfortable.
Savannah: What do you have for footwear we can pair with this?
Sarah pulled out a pair of tan pumps, a pair of black stiletto sandals, and a pair of black open-toed booties.
Liv: I like all three of these choices, but would rule out the tan because that's more for a night-out outfit and not a work-related one.
Savannah: Also, skip the stilettos.
Sarah: Pretty basic, but quite professional.
Liv: Can we see the whole thing together?
Sarah put on the jumpsuit and the booties, then posed for the others.
Savannah (to Liv): Think this could nudge you-know-who to think a little differently about our new teammate?
Sarah: Guys....I don't know if he will even be there tonight. Besides, I'm not looking at the moment to add a relationship to my academic and athletic responsibilities. When I am, then you can start ribbing me about him.
Liv: If he is, can't see him not paying a slight bit more attention to you than others.
Sarah: Savannah, can you shut your roommate up?
Savannah: I can...doesn't mean I will.
Sarah: Well, we should be getting onto Godwin soon or we'll be late for practice.
The two volleyball players and the team's tag-along exited Sarah and Sophia's apartment, then went to Savannah and Liv's so they could pick up the former's gear ahead of walking to the elevator to ride down to the first floor and exit the complex.
