The Dukes' final home match of the 2021 regular season was this afternoon at 3pm against Delaware. Prior to that, Sarah and Marc would have brunch in his apartment. At 10:30, she left her apartment and went down the one floor to her beau's. She knocked on his door and he answered almost immediately.
Sarah: Good morning, Mr. Man.
Marc: Good morning to you as well, my leading lady.
Sarah stepped in and Marc closed the door behind her. The pair exchanged an extended good-morning peck, then checked one another over before they filled their plates from the pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon, and cinnamon rolls Marc had made.
Sarah: You think Becca is going to bite on returning?
Marc: I think so, if what I told her on Tuesday is anything to go by. It would take a Herculean effort for her to get done by May because of the contact hours she's missing this semester due to volleyball. It IS doable to finish over the summer, but why do that when you can take a break and come back refreshed for a final push come August?
Sarah: What are the odds of a yes, in your opinion?
Marc: Prior to your talk, like 75/25 against, just because the option wasn't really being considered. After our meeting, 60/40 for due to both the actual circumstance she's in with her academic plan and because there are others pushing off their exit as well. I also learned a curious tidbit after Savannah left and it was just Becca and Cam with me.
Sarah: How curious?
Marc: I don't want to be throwing around rumors, but all isn't beer and skittles between Savannah and Petur. His plan to head abroad after graduating this semester had Savannah as part of the package and, now that she has chosen to elongate her time here, other issues are coming out.
Sarah: Becca thinking that, with him gone, she could woo Savs?
Marc: Again, nothing that I'd bet my life savings on, but it's possible.
Sarah: Here's what I'm thinking for after the match. We know there will be some level of ceremony since Liv is done done with playing. Following whatever happens or doesn't happen, I'll come over to you at the edge of the bleachers and let it occur naturally. I can't wait to get my lips on yours in front of everyone and shut all of their pie holes. Sure, we'll get some flak, but the speculation will be over and life will go on.
Once they finished eating and had placed their dishes into the sink, the couple sat down on Marc's couch and had a lazy Sunday morning cuddle. Sarah laced her fingers through the back of Marc's right hand and lifted it to her cheek.
Sarah: Mmmm. So soft yet so strong.
Indulging her slightly-devilish streak, she swiped her tongue over the tip of his index finger, then kissed it.
Marc: A little bit frisky this morning, are we?
Sarah: Wouldn't call it that. More like I'm comfortable enough with you and with my feelings for you that I'm no longer wanting to be shy about expressing them to you. I've had struggles with my self-esteem and self-image due to how people tend to view me in relation to my size both north-south and east-west. Your first entrance into my world was a bit of a shock, as your comment about me being a goddess caught me off-guard. When the Honda winners (Rachel, Jocelyn, and Dana) confronted me about my reluctance to accept how you viewed me, they poured out their own love for me as a means of getting me to love myself more. So I leaned into it and came to realize how much I actually wanted to say yes to you. You accept me completely without reservation or condition, which is allowing me to act upon the feelings that you stir up with your compliments and actions.
