Y/n pov:

My sister woke me up, it felt like it was the middle of the night when she shook me till I answered. "Stop. Stop it Barbara it's not funny." Not what I was expecting, but instead of my sister, I heard my dad speak. "It was my idea. I just wanted to tell you that I and Lee found a body at the circus yesterday, and we found out all about it." He looks at me and then at Barbara. "Come, downstairs ladies, I've made breakfast. I'll explain everything."

My heart bounced in my throat. "Calm down Y/n, what's up?" My sister helps me stand up and I throw on some clothes as she does. "I will explain it to you."

As soon as we got downstairs I saw my dad already eating from his self-made egg on a slice of bread. "Come, take a seat." It felt like he was gonna ask me questions. I sat down on the other side of the table. "So-" My father clears his throat. "You know that boy, ehm, Jerome." I can feel Barb's eyes look at me. "Y-yes." "He confessed to being the murderer of his mother." Somehow I had to hold in my laugh, don't know why. Not important. "That's weird cause-" "Yes. It is, who would kill his mother? The poor woman!"

I was so mad. Poor? Really? She was a nasty cunt. I wouldn't mind slicing her throat another time.

Barbara is speechless. I look at her telling her with my eyes only she can better shut her mouth about our relationship. "Dad I don't think you know exactly who she was." That must've been the stupidest thing to say right now, but I was so mad. "What?" "Nothing. Just I've heard she's gotten a lot of boyfriends. Hookups."

"Yeah, that's another side. But about that boy, do you know him?" "I've seen him a couple of times, but he works on the other side of the area." My dad picks up his jacket and his phone. "Just, be careful with who you talk to." "Wait before you go out. You and me will have to talk about the situation with you and mom." My sister stands up as I do too. "Yeah. I'm gonna be there too" She confirms. My dad can't get away with this.

A few seconds after our father stepped out of the door I look at my sister. "Oh my god, Jerome..." A wide smile grows on my face. "Y/n, you gotta explain me this."

I told my sister everything. How I knew about the death, and that Jerome didn't even mention me. He is the only reason why I am still on free feet. "Wow. So you've been involved in a murder case." I know she wanted to be a cop when she was older, but I trust her. I trust her more than I trust Anne. "Something like that yes. But don't forget what the woman has done. It was self-defense. Just like I taught you."

As much as I wanted to keep her out of this, it was the best she knew the truth. Now I have to speak to Jerome. In-person. He's in Arkham, the huge Asylum where we were in a few months ago when I helped my dad on a real case. I don't know what feels better, to be the good or the evil. "Y/n. Y/n!" "W-what?" Oh yeah, right. I was talking to Barbara. "You didn't answer me." "What was the question?" "Are we going to frame Jerome out of jail?" "There's no way we can do that on our own. Plus it's way too dangerous for you. I'd like to keep you out of the real shit, you know."

~

"Y/n Gordon, you have an hour to speak with the prisoner." I nod and step inside the jail. It was dark, in this zone. I think Jerome was kept here because he seemed to be dangerous. Not for me. I close the door behind me as I whistle. I can hear Jerome's whistle coming out of the dark. "It smells like dog shit in here." "Jerome!" I run into his arms. So happy to see him. It's been weeks before I had a chance to meet up with him. "I missed you so much dollface. Where'd you go?" "I got promoted at work." "And that's what's been keeping you so busy?"

"Actually, no. I've never had the chance to come here. My dad has strict rules for me to stay with my sister all day whenever she comes back home from school, my parents got a divorce." "Oh, I see. You're dealing with a lot of shit right now." "Not as shitty as yours." We both laugh at my joke and nothing could be further from the truth. Jerome and I let each other go and I jump on his bed. "Ew. Disgusting." Jerome laughs. "It's not comfy! One of the most important things of jail must be that they could upgrade their beds." I lay down on it and Jerome climbs over me. "We've got a lot to talk about." He says. "But not a lot of time!" I rest my hand palms on his jaw and pull his face closer to mine. I could count his freckles if I wanted to.

Jerome's hands roam under my dress and I kiss him slowly. His tongue slides over my under lip, asking me to let it enter my mouth. "I love you, Jerome." He pulls the blanket off the bed. "I love you too, y/n." Being so close to him made me feel more comfortable than I could ever be. It's not a dream anymore, there's for real a young man laying over me. The most beautiful young man. His ginger hair was all messy on top of his head. Then suddenly I just had to put my hands around his waist, and I hug him. "I don't want you to leave," he says pathetically. "I won't. Yet. But eventually, I'll have to."

His breath in my neck, hairs in my face we start discussing my sis. "I told her. About everything." Jerome comes up from it. It seems like he's shocked. His eyes go from the one to the other side of mine. "What if she's gonna tell your parents?" I pull him close again. "She won't. Believe me." Jerome closes his eyes as I run my hand through his hair. Butterflies are flying around my belly. He's not that bad... I tried to tell myself while knowing the truth. It's partly my fault. All of this. "I'm so grateful that you didn't mention me though."

Jerome laughs in my shoulder. I can feel his stomach shake a little. "We'll, if I did we could've made it through here together though." He jokes. "That's true." He places a hand on my chest. Oh my God, so cute.
