Sadly enough I had to leave Jerome again, that definitely had to change sometime. For now, I'm focusing on this day. And by the way, I would see him today soon enough again.

Jim pov:

I and Lee went to the circus because Barbara and I weren't in the best place right now. I lowkey kinda hoped we could see my daughter at the show, but she let us already know that she's off work today till the afternoon.

The Graysons were done with their big acts, and they were bowing in their special way. Suddenly a red, small car filled with clowns comes inside of the ring and make much loud noises, screaming and yelling. They attack the Graysons and I have no idea why, first it looked like it was a part of the act. But later me and Lee, such as the audience noticed that it wasn't. The ringmaster tries to get it under control but fails. "Calm down. Stop that!" But the clowns keep fighting with the acrobats and soon enough it's my turn. I stand up like nobody from the audience really did.

"G.C.P.D." I hope they would pay attention. "Everybody freeze."

Why did they attack The Graysons? I only got the answer "No reason." From multiple clowns. I look over my shoulder when I see Lee talking to some acrobats. It seemed like she got way more information out of them than I could get.

I came a little bit closer, and heard it was about the Lloyds and the Graysons. "You know damn well it must be Lila's fault." Said some girl, she must've been Mary Lloyd.

Afterward, Lee came to talk with a big smile on her face. "Best date ever!" "Haha, but how did they-" "People talk to doctors." Logical. "This particular fight was apparently over a woman named Lila, she's a snake dancer in the sideshow." Lee continued. "A snake dancer! How cool is that?" "Wow, then I should find Lila. Make sure she's okay." Didn't want to get her more involved in the case than she already was, but she was dying to meet her. Couldn't stop her.

Not long after we had this conversation we spoke to the ringman. "So you must be Mr. Gordon right?" "Yeah, yes." "Your daughter is doing great work here, I'm her boss." "Oh, well I was expecting something like that yes." He led us to a trailer with the snake beside it, probably Lila's snake.

A boy with ginger hair opened the trailer door. "G.C.P.D, we need to speak with Lila." The boy grabbed his jacket and closed the door. "She's not here, why? What's happened?" Right after that, he told us he didn't know where she was, and that she's been away for a while now. "I'm her son, Jerome." "Jerome, when did you last see her?" He had a concerned look on his face, where could his mother be? The ringman calmed Jerome down.

"Ohh look at Sheba, she's distraught. She knows something's wrong." Jerome went. "The snake does seem to be agitated." Snakes can smell real good. Sheba could help me the most right now. "Let her out." Jerome faced me real fast.

"I'm sorry?"

"Let her out."

The snake went her own way, towards this part of a carriage. We followed Sheba on a few meters distance but it was clear where she was going for. A big, white blanket was laying down on the whole thing, and I lift it. "Oh my God." Lila, the snake dancer was laying on her side at the carriage. Dead. Jerome started wailing and fell to his knees. I stepped in front of the ringman. "You knew." He sighs. "Look me in the eyes. You knew she was here." "She was like that when we found her."

Y/n pov:

Barbara said goodbye to her friend and comes running toward me. "Hey sister, did you have a nice day at school?" She hands me over her bag. "Boring, but it was doable." I held my arm out with the bag on it. "Ya gotta carry that yourself, you know I'm not your butler." She takes it over again. "We're going to the amusement park!"

With my sis sitting on the back of my bike, holding my waist so she doesn't fall we make our way to my work. I get a call and ask Barbara to pick up. "Hey, with Barbara, the little sister from Y/n." I don't hear what she hears. I wonder who it must be, I just hope it's not Derek saying some naughty shit or something. "Yes yes calm down, who are you? I almost can't hear you." My heart starts beating as I cycle faster. "Okay, I'll ask her to stop the bike wait." "Who is it?" "I don't know. But the contact says 'J', is it your boyfriend?" I ignore her and talk to Jerome. "Calm down, the internet is bad here, we're in the middle of the road."

"It's your dad, he's here and he fucking saw my mother's body."

My heart skipped a beat. And another one. Maybe more. "What? Y/n don't be so scary!" Barbara said. I could do two things now, act like nothing is happening and just say we can't go, but that would be suspicious. Ehm, think faster. Answer. To both of them!

"Nothing Barb." "And Jerome, everything will be alright. We're gonna see you in a few minutes." I closed the phone without waiting for his answer. Play it smart, don't do something stupid now.

We came to the park and the first person I saw there was Jerome. I started panicking, but not so much that my sister could see it. She was very busy exploring the park. "Barbara, come see us in half an hour okay? We'll meet you here." I think she heard it. "Y/n..." As soon as I know I find myself in Jerome's arms. Crying. "Shh, don't cry. Don't take it all so seriously. I'll find a way to get us out of this situation, but you got to trust the progress, okay baby?" Just as usual by him, I felt myself again. "Okay J."

He told me that he has already been at the police station for interrogation about his mother. "I fucking messed shit up." I raised my voice. "No, you didn't. How could you know that your father and mother would be here today?" Mother? My mother was at Oswald's today. She literally told me that. Hand in hand we started looking for my sister. Not because she didn't listen to what I said, but because we didn't have another reason to walk around and talk. "How did my mother look like?" Jerome looks at me. "You don't know what your mom looks like?" I shake my head. "That's not it. Only my mother couldn't have been here today." "Well, she had dark hair, and she's a doctor. That's everything I saw from her today."

Was my father seeing Leslie Thompkins? Then what about mom? If they were getting a divorce right now it would be too much for me...
