At the police station, everyone was questioned one by one, including Megan, who was still scared but had calmed down a bit.

Thanks to the additional statements of Josh and Nick, Dean was arrested for the time being, and Megan finally decided to press charges against him.

Meanwhile, one of the policewomen was still talking to Megan, Josh, and Nick were sitting in the waiting room.

"Thanks."

"For what?", Nick's look was visibly confused, not knowing what his colleague was thanking him for now.

"For this. I know you and Megan aren't exactly friends, it's not natural that you reacted the way you did and God only knows what would have happened if you had chosen to ignore her. I also say thank you on behalf of Megs. We both know her, her pride won't allow her to thank you the way she would want to and we both know that in hindsight I'm sure this will all make her very uncomfortable."

"Neither you nor Buttercup need to thank me, we may be far from friends, but we are still a team. And I understand that, that it will be awkward for her, even though it shouldn't have to be. I'm sorry about your date, by the way. I hope he understands that."

"Maybe I'll be the hero now and ...," Josh's sentence was interrupted by the urge to yawn profusely.
He hadn't slept properly for several nights due to excitement, regarding tonight's date, and now after these adrenaline rushes, he noticed his body and also mind slowly shutting down.

"Go home. You don't have to worry about Dove, I'll wait for her and then take her to her apartment," Nick patted Josh on the shoulder and pushed him forward slightly to get him to get up and go home before he started a discussion with him now.

After another 20 minutes of waiting, Megan was finally done with her questioning.
Despite the fact that today's experience had opened up old wounds and traumatized her, she had decided to lay all her cards on the table.
She had told the police not only about today's incident, but also about everything that had happened in the past years.

Visibly exhausted, she entered the waiting room and when she saw only Nick sitting there alone, she looked around searchingly for Josh.

"Hey Buttercup. I sent Josh home 20 minutes ago and assured him I'd take you home."

With a blank yet very tired look, she looked directly at him before nodding in agreement.

In the meantime, while Megan and Josh were being questioned, Nick had gone to get his car, which had been parked in an underground garage just a few blocks away.

Outside it was pitch dark and only the streetlights gave a little more light than usual, because the light reflected off the wet asphalt.
Megan stopped rooted to the spot at the main entrance in the bright white light, here she felt safe, here she could see everything and the thought of walking through the darkness now choked her.

"Come on." said Nick, who had noticed Megan's behavior and offered her his arm to hook.

Hesitantly, she wrapped both arms around his muscular upper arm, literally clawing at his jacket, afraid Dean would leap out of the darkness in the next second and take her with him.

Slowly, they walked toward the jet-black Mustang Mach 1, parked under one of the lanterns.

"Is that yours?"

"Looks like it, doesn't it?", he pressed one of the buttons located on the car key and the headlights of the sports car lit up the last few meters for them.

"Wow." was the only thing Megan could get out as she slid into the black leather sport seat.

"So where do I need to take you?"
