Back In The City

Don't You (Forget About Me)-Simple Minds

Y/n POV

I stare at Daryl, guilt all over my body. The feeling in my stomach makes me want to puke. Daryl stops yelling. He stands still and looks at Merle's hand. All I can hear is his breathing.

I walk over and try putting my hand on his shoulder. Instead, he shouts, turns around and points his crossbow at my head.

My eyes widen and I immediately move my hand to keep it hovering over my gun. Rick gets his gun out and points it at Daryls head. Glenn and T-dog watch in shock. I hear Ricks gun cock and I tense up.

I stay still, not daring to move a muscle.

"I won't hesitate. I don't care if every walker in the city hears it." Rick states. I don't keep eye contact away from Daryl. We both stare into each other pupils. Daryl eventually looks down. He puts down his crossbow in shame and Rick takes his gun away and I put my hand down. I stop tensing and sigh.

Daryl looks at T-dog. "You got a do-rag or something?" Daryl ask. T-dog pulls out some sort of cloth and hands it to Daryl. Daryl takes it and walks over to Merles hand. He crouches down and lays the rag flat. He tries to grab for Merles hand but stops. He looks at me.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I didn't believe ya." I look away and nod.

"It's-it's okay." I say quietly. He hears it and reaches for Merles hand again.

"I guess the saw blade was too dull for the handcuffs." Daryl adds. He picks Merles hand up and examines it. "Ain't that a bitch." He places the hand on the blue rag and wraps it up.

"I can show you the way. Where we went. Where we stayed." I take a breath. "It might help." Daryl nods and stands up. He goes to Glenn and puts the hand in his bag. Glenn looks discussed and like he might puke.

"Well. Show us the way." Rick adds, gesturing his hand for me to show him. I nod. T-dog quickly grabs Dales supplies and we head the way that I went. The boys following behind.

I show them the kitchen that I took Merle too and had to categorize his hand. I see the stove was still left on. Woops. Guess I forgot about that. I see the belt with blood on it too. Glenn's eyes widens at the dull saw-blade with skin on it.

"Is that sk-"

"Yes. It's skin." Daryl looks at me. "He was loosing to much blood. I-we had to do something about it." I let out a sigh.

"You two left this building?" Daryl questioned. Glenn and Rick look at me. I nod and Glenn notices the broken window.

"Oh shit." Glenn quakes. Everyone walks over there and I follow behind. "You guys left the building? Why the hell would you do that?" Daryl gave me a questioning look.

"There were walkers coming at us. I had to get him out safely." I look through the broken glass and notice the building we stayed at. "There's a building a couple blocks down here. That's where we stayed." Daryl nods. He almost jumps to conclusions when Rick speaks.

"He could be anywhere now. He's probably not at that building anymore." Rick states. Daryl glares at him.

"How would you know? For all we know, he could be over there right now!" Daryl fumed.

"He's not. If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that he's not over there." Daryl scoffs at me.

"He's out there alone as far as he knows, doing what he gotta do. Surviving." Daryl replies.
