The Shots
Fighting My Way Back-Thin Lizzy
Rick POV
"It's been over an hour now." Shane stated with a hint of anger to his voice. The group turn sharply and gave him a look, meaning they were mad. "Do we really need to be waiting here?"
"Its Y/n. Of course we wait for her." Glenn glared to Shane and everyone did the same thing, including me. Shane gripped the railing on the porch and looked down in anger.
That's when Hershel finally came out. He held a white cloth that had stains all over it. He was cleaning his hands with it. Everyone stood up quickly, looking to him for an answer. Is Y/n alright? "How-how is she?" Lori asked.
"Stable, but we won't know for sure until she wakes up." This caused most of the group to hang their heads down. I held my head high and looked around at everyone. Daryl however looked down before heading away.
"There's still a little girl out here, what are y'all waiting for?" Daryl spoke pointing his hand towards the woods. I shook my head at him and got closer to him.
"Not you. You stay here." I answered. He gave me a puzzling look and tried to speak, but didn't. "If she turns we need you here."
"What? Why me." Daryl asked and looked me straight in the eyes.
"Back in there, she trusted you. She's still trusting you." Daryl scoffed but didn't argue. He looked past me, looking towards the house where Y/n was. "Everyone. Go back to what you were doing. She's going to be fine."
"Everyone else will go back to their map grids." Shane shouted to the group and un-gripped the railing. Shane went over to Daryl and patted his shoulder causing Daryl to swat his hand away. Shane whispered loud enough to where I could hear what he told Daryl. "Do what has to be done."
Daryl glared at Shane. Shane glared but slowly walked away from his, staring him down. I walked over to Daryl, while everyone else began to leave and go back to their jobs. He stopped glaring at Shane and looked me in the eyes. "Take care of her. Stay with her...She needs you." I told him softly. He hesitated but soon nodded at me. "You'll help us look for Sophia tomorrow."
Daryl POV
I nodded again to Rick. He smiled, then headed back to going to find Sophia. I sighed and headed back inside. I headed to where Y/n was. I found the room and entered it slowly. Hershel was there with her, tending her wounds. She had new stitches and Hershel was wrapping her body with a bandage. He glanced at me and nodded towards me. "I'll need your help holding her."
I hesitated again but soon went over to hold Y/n. I slowly picked her up by her shoulders, bringing her up in my arms. "Careful now. We don't want to reopen the stitch."
I hummed to his answer and continued to hold Y/n. He took his dear-sweet-time and it took awhile for him to get the bandage on. After he finished wrapping her, I set her down gently. Hershel began to lightly tuck the covers in for her. "Rick sent you to watch her?"
"Uh yeah." I sighed, while grabbing a chair. I placed it near the bed and sat down in it. "Will she...uhm, will she make it?"
"Depends. Her veins seem to be fading now. There not as black." I looked back at her stomach. It was wrapped but little blood stained it. I stared at her for awhile, which caused Hershel to react. "I'll leave you two alone."
Hershel left and lightly closed the door, leaving me and Y/n alone. I sighed and clasped my hands together thinking about it all. "Don't die on me now."
