An End to Sorrow

I Walk the Line-Johnny Cash

Rick POV

I slowly walk back to my room. Shit. I think I'm drunk. I had finally thrown away the bottle of wine I had. I managed to finish the whole thing.

After my conversation with Jenner, I stayed a bit longer, before deciding to head back to Lori and Carl. Carl's probably asleep by now.

The conversation with Y/n was nice. It was nice to get it all out. I'm really happy we got here. Lori and Carl are safe. Shane's alive. Things are looking good for the group. Even Andrea looked a little better.

I approached my room slowly, when I see a figure on the ground by the door. I walk up closer and see Y/n laying against the wall with her arms crossed. She's asleep.

I quietly step around her and go into our room. Maybe she got drunk and fell asleep by the wall? I close the door slowly. I go into the room and look around. I see Carl sleeping on the couch. This is probably the best he's slept since this whole thing. I see Lori in our cot we were sharing. I quietly take my pants and shoes off. I took my shirt off last. I turn off the nightlight and look at Carl one last time. I smile.

I walk over to the cot and get in it. Wrapping the blanket around me and Lori. I gently wrap my arm around her. I feel her move around, until she's facing me. I look at her.

She sniffles a few times and I realize she had been crying. I put my hand to her face and I lift my head a little and look into her hazel eyes. "We don't have to be afraid anymore." I whisper. She gently smiles at me. "We're safe here. All right." She slowly nods and I kiss her forehead.

She wraps her hand around mine and I gently hug her. I hear her sniffle a few more times, before falling asleep. I love you, Lori.

Y/n POV

I wake up to me laying on a wall with my arms crossed. I stare in confusion for awhile, until I realize why I'm here. I flutter my eyes a few more times, before rubbing my eyes. I rub my eyes until they gently hit my cheek. My cheek feels tense and I softly touch it and flinch.

Shit. That hurt. I start to remember how Shane smacked me across the face last night. Ouch. I'm glad I didn't cry, I was more worried about Lori and what Shane was doing to her.

After Shane had left, I stayed with Lori for a little while. Until I helped her to bed. I decided to stay by the door, making sure Shane doesn't come back.

That shithead. Whatever he was doing was not okay. It wasn't even okay! I gently rub my head at the slight pain throbbing.

Ugh. And now I have a hangover too. I get up and cling to the wall for support. My face hurts a lot. I look around and I don't see anyone around. By the guess, Everyone is probably having breakfast. I decide to walk to the kitchen area, the place where we had that pasta.

I let took me about 10 mins to get to the kitchen. It was like a maze in here. I walk into the kitchen and see most of of the group up. I notice Glenn sitting by the table, holding his head. I chuckle at him.

"I told you." I smirk at Glenn. He keeps looking down.

"Y/n. Ugh. I'm not in the mood right now." I smile and sit by him, patting his back with my left hand. I use my other hand to massage his head.

"Well, I gotta help my best friend, don't I?" He softly smiles at me, before groaning again. "Don't worry. I've seen plenty of people have hangovers before and yours is pretty bad."
