Clint had decided to do dinner with Mercedes. He was going to take her to a nice little diner, but he wanted to make sure she was dressed casual, since he didn't want her to be too dressed up for a small diner. He planned to pick her up at five, be done with dinner by six, and take her on a nice walk from six to seven. He also was thinking of stopping for coffee or ice cream before bringing her back to her place, but everything depended on what Mercedes wanted to do.
Mercedes hadn't had a date in a long time, especially after she started working longer hours in the office, but she was glad to finally be able to go on a date. She liked Clint, and she hoped that something would happen between them. If the date went well, she'd definitely consider finally having a relationship worth working for. Matter of fact, she had spent almost an hour picking an outfit for the date. She was supposed to dress casual, but being a Stark, it wasn't always easy to not dress a bit nicer than casual when leaving the house.
After changing her outfit three times, Mercedes decided to take a page from her father's book and wear a band shirt. She loved classic rock, so she wore one of her many rock band shirts. To be honest, the girl had over one hundred band shirts, but a lot of them were vintage. The vintage ones she had put into special packages and stored away in a safe place so she could keep them in pristine condition. Once she had on a band shirt, she was able to match clothes to it to make herself look presentable.
By the time she was finished getting ready, she heard a light knock on her front door. The girl smiled to herself, especially when she heard Moxley barking loudly at the door. Quickly the girl grabbed her phone and slipped it into her pocket, before walking out of her room and straight to the front door. Opening the door, she smiled when she seen Clint standing outside with a single rose in his hand.
"This is for you." He said, holding the rose out to her.
"Thank you." She replied, holding the rose to her nose to smell the flower.
She brought the rose inside and got a glass to fill with water. She allowed Clint inside, and Moxley circled the man sniffing him. When Clint reached down to pet Moxley, the dog practically became a puppy again in the man's hands. Mercedes smiled to herself, as she placed the rose in the glass of water.
"That's my boy Moxley. He's quite the guard dog." Mercedes commented, and Clint chuckled.
"Oh I can tell," Clint replied, before looking back down at the dog,"You're quite the killer, huh, Moxley?" He cooed, crouching down to the dog's height.
"You might want to watch out. He likes trying to lick all over your face when he's excited." Mercedes said, as she petted Moxley's back lightly.
"Ya know, the diner we're going to has outside tables. We can bring Moxley if you want." Clint commented, causing Mercedes smiled.
"Really?" She asked, her voice filled with happiness,"I haven't taken Moxley out in a few days. He'd love to come with us. Let me just grab his leash." She replied, before running off to her room.
"You'll be my ticket to the perfect date, Mox." Clint whispered to the dog, grinning slightly.
Once Mercedes came back with the leash, she connected it to Moxley's collar. Moxley became excited once more knowing he had on a leash, since that meant he'd be leaving and going outside with Mercedes and Clint. After locking up, Clint lead Mercedes and Moxley outside and began their walk to the diner. He had asked beforehand to make sure Mercedes was fine with walking, since he didn't want to screw up the date at all.
"What do you want to eat?" Clint asked,"I'll go inside and order, and you can find us a table." He added, and Mercedes nodded.
"Surprise me, just nothing with fish." She replied, causing him to smile.
Clint went inside and ordered her and himself a philly cheese steak sandwich, and he also asked the cook if he had any leftovers that needed to be gone. When the cook told him he did, Clint told the cook he had a dog and would gladly take it off of his hands. The cook gave him the leftovers for free, even though Clint had told him he'd be willing to pay.
Once their food was ready, Clint brought out the food and set it down on the table. He then set the leftovers on the ground for Moxley, who gladly began to eat the food from Clint.
"You didn't have to pay for him anything. I would've paid." Mercedes commented, but Clint shook his head.
"The cook gave it to me for free when he seen Moxley." Clint somewhat lied, and Mercedes smiled.
Seeing Clint care for Moxley made butterflies form in the pit of her stomach. She hadn't seen anyone care so much for her dog, other than Natasha. Everyone else seemed to brush past the poor dog who just wanted attention from everyone. Mercedes hated seeing how sad the dog looked when people didn't pet him or come over to say hello to him.
"You're so sweet to my Mox. Everyone always seems to ignore him and it makes him so sad. I hate seeing him sad, but you're really making him happy today. He's the most important boy in my life, and the way you're treating him is really giving you brownie points." Mercedes said, and Clint smiled.
"I love dogs, and to be honest, Moxley is absolutely adorable. You've got the perfect pup." He replied, patting Moxley's back discreetly.
Him and Moxley were going to make the date unforgettable together, that way Mercedes would agree to having another date. Clint really liked Mercedes, and having Moxley around was a big plus. Liking a girl that loved animals made him like her just a bit more, and he wouldn't hide the fact either...

A/N: I hope you guys liked this chapter. Should Mercedes and Clint have kids before the Avengers stuff really takes place, since him and Laura had kids? Should laura be his sister in this story, or maybe his brother's ex? If Clint and Mercedes have kids, should Tony know? Should they get married without him knowing??
Love you guys!
