"I can defend myself." Mercedes commented, as Clint helped her pack her things.
"I know, but I want you to be safe at all times, especially now that you're having a baby." Clint replied, making her sigh.
"I know, but I feel kind of sad leaving this place." She said, and he nodded.
"I bet you'll like the farmhouse. I know Mox will. He'll have a lot of room to run around and explore." Clint answered, causing her to smile.
"Did you pack his things yet?" She asked, making him smirk.
"You mean his hundreds of toys?" He questioned jokingly,"You know I did, and he helped. He made sure I grabbed everything." He said, causing the girl to laugh.
"He would be upset if he didn't have his favorite bear." She commented, and Clint chuckled.
Once everything of Mercedes was packed, Clint began to carry everything down to his vehicle. Mercedes helped a little, but Clint wouldn't let her carry anything heavier than five pounds. Clint's vehicle was packed tight, but luckily there was a bit of room in Mercedes' vehicle that she didn't often drive.
Mercedes let Moxley sit in the front seat with her, since the back was packed full of stuff. Clint had a trailer on the back of his vehicle, and it held quite a few things as well. The stuff she wasn't going to use at Clint's farmhouse would go into the shed with the tractor, or would be donated to a thrift store.
The drive took a good bit of time, but she had a lot of things, so they didn't want to fly. Mercedes also didn't trust any airlines with Moxley, since she heard quite a few stories about animals being lost, injured, or killed because the airlines weren't careful with them. She couldn't even fathom what she would do if she lost Moxley.
Anyhow, once they arrived at the farmhouse, Mercedes let Moxley out of the vehicle. The dog stretched for a moment, before he quickly began to explore the new home he was living in. He was very excited, and Mercedes had a feeling the move was going to be great for him. She also didn't mind the farmhouse, even though it definitely looked like it needed a little work done on it.
Mercedes grabbed a couple bags, as did Clint, before they headed to the front door. Moxley came with them, as they entered the house and looked around a bit. There was a bit of dust, but it wasn't unbearable. Mercedes could easily clean everything, and the house would be perfect health wise. Clint was basically making a list in his head of all the things that needed to be fixed.
"So, what do you think?" Clint asked, as he set stuff on the floor.
"I like it," Mercedes replied,"but I'm definitely having my furniture put in the living room. This furniture doesn't look the safest." She said, and Clint nodded.
"I was thinking the same thing." He answered, causing Mercedes to smile.
Clint and Mercedes began to bring everything in, as Moxley continued to explore. Clint didn't allow Mercedes to help him, as he moved the old furniture out, and put Mercedes furniture into the living room. He then moved the old bed into one of the old rooms, before putting Mercedes bed into the room that would be theirs.
Clint cleared out the other rooms, and put the old beds and such on the trailer with his old furniture to be donated. He made himself a mental note to bring the things to be donated the next day. While he was outside strapping everything down, Mercedes was on the phone with Fury. She was explaining to him that she wouldn't be able to work there anymore, since she needed to keep herself and her baby safe. He seemed to understand, though he definitely wasn't happy about it.
"Do you just want to have sandwiches for dinner tonight?" Mercedes asked,"I can make real food tomorrow, but I'm not feeling it today." She commented, and Clint nodded.
"Works for me," Clint replied,"Let's just get some more things unpacked before we eat." He added, and Mercedes agreed with him.
The two unpacked almost everything, other than the pots and pans and such that Mercedes packed. They would unpack that the next day. Mercedes and Clint would have to eventually make a nursery for the baby, but it wasn't anytime soon. To be honest, Mercedes didn't want to set up the nursery until she knew the baby's gender.
Mercedes began to wonder if she should tell her father or Pepper about everything. She knew she was already so deep in the rabbit hole of secrets, that her father would most likely be furious with her. There were so many things she wanted to tell them, but she was scared to see how they reacted. They would both definitely be mad at her.
Pepper would eventually understand, she always seemed to, but her father wouldn't. Tony Stark was known for being dramatic, but Mercedes knew he would have every right to be. She had so many secrets kept from him, that once she told him, he'd probably ignore her for a week, or completely freak out on her. She hated when her father got angry, but she was already so far into the secrets, she couldn't exactly dig herself out.
"We need to make a list of things we need for the baby's nursery." Clint commented, and Mercedes agreed.
"We also need a list of everything that needs to be fixed on or around the house." She said, as she grabbed some paper and a pen.
"You think we can get a majority of the stuff finished before the baby is born?" Clint asked, causing the girl to sigh.
"We'll just have to try and see what happens." She replied, and he nodded.
In moments like this, Mercedes wished she could ask her father for help. Though he wasn't much of an "around-the-house" fixer, but he would help her. She couldn't ask him though, because there was so much she was trying to keep a secret from him for now...
