Barely any time passed before things changed once again. Early in the morning, Mercedes had recieved a call from her father, telling her there was a new thing she needed to sign. It was called the Accords, and from what Mercedes understood, it kept the super heroes and anyone who signed it on a short leash.
She understood that the government wanted to know where all the heroes were at all times, just in case something bad happened, or one of them turned bad. She also understood what it was like to want to know what was going on, and things of that nature. The people deserved to know, but at the same time, she didn't understand why people wanted so much information.
She would've wanted to be kept in the dark on some things, but it seemed the people wanted to bite off more than they could chew, and the government seemed to agree and willing give it to them. One day that would cause a lot of trouble, Mercedes knew it would, and she didn't want to be a part of the people that caused those problems.
That day, she told her father that she didn't want to sign the Accords. She explained to him her reasoning, but he still wasn't too happy about it. She was worried that this would be one of the reasons that she and her father began to argue again. She didn't want to be fighting with him again, so she left the conversation before it could turn bad.
Before she knew it, Clint and her recieved a call from Steve Rogers. He told them that they needed a little help, to save his best friend, and that on their way, he'd hope they'd pick up Wanda and another person, Scott Lang. Mercedes wasn't sure about leaving and going anywhere when her kids would be home, but she had to do what was best for everyone, not just her.
Pepper refused to pick sides, but she still decided to help Mercedes. The girl had called and asked her to come to the farmhouse and watch over her children. Pepper didn't ask any questions, but she knew something wasn't quite right. She did as she was asked though, and went straight to the farmhouse to watch over the children and Moxley.
Mercedes and Clint went to the tower first to get Wanda. It wasn't easy, but with Wanda's help, they were able to get out of the tower without any injuries. The next stop was for Scott, and he wasn't exactly the liveliest person at first. They ended up having to give him a bit of coffee to get him going.
When they arrived at the place Steve had called them, the couple stepped out of the truck. Wanda followed soon after, and Clint had to wake up Scott. Steve and Mercedes locked eyes, and he could tell this was effecting her. She had never had to actually physically fight her father or any of the others.
"You don't have to do this, Mercedes," Steve commented,"if this is going to put a bigger rift between you and your father, I don't want you to do it. I don't want us to be the reason you and your father hate each other again." He said, making her sigh.
"We won't each other," She answered,"but this fight might let us blow off some steam. Besides, the moment he called me about the Accords, I knew there was going to be more problems."
Mercedes hadn't expected to be fighting so many of her family members. She was against Natasha, Rhodey, and her father. Vision was there, too, but she didn't know him that well. She was rather irritated when her father brought out a recruit, a boy in a red and blue spider suit. He sounded like a child, which she thought was horrible, since he could easily be hurt. There was also another man, Black Panther, someone she had never met before, but she had heard about him once or twice.
He was rather strong, but she didn't have to go up against him and his sharp claws. She did fight her best friend though, which wasn't easy. Luckily though, the two didn't hit each other too hard. Natasha didn't want to hurt her, because she was scared to lose her for good.
When Vision had accidentally threw Mercedes into a car, causing the side to cave slightly, Tony became worried. Before he could really do anything, Clint had ran over to her. Though Tony was mad at them, he was thankful the man was taking such good care of his daughter.
Everyone took a minute to regroup themselves, especially Mercedes. Everyone was worried about her, and even Vision had felt bad about what he had done to her. They were almost certain she had a concussion, possibly even more injuries. Clint kept her at his side the rest of the fight.
When they realized that the only way to get Bucky out of there was to pretty much surrender themselves, that's what they did. Everyone was seen by a doctor, and somehow, Tony had pulled a few strings to get Mercedes put in the same cell with Clint. Even though he was mad at them, and claimed he was letting them see what happened when they did wrong, he still wanted his little girl to be safe and with her husband.
He hated seeing her hurt and in a cell. She sat on the bed in the cell with her knees pulled to her chest. Clint stayed close to her, and only stepped away when he went to taunt Tony. Clint was angry at the man, especially for what happened to Mercedes. He believed that it was all Tony's fault, and he wasn't going to forgive him easily.
Tony just hoped that this experience opened their eyes. He hoped that the couple would go home to their children and stay there. He hoped that they'd just end the super hero life style. Most of all, he hoped he didn't blow his chance with being in the lives of his grandchildren...
