Mercedes and Clint had been on a few dates, and their relationship was going rather well. The two still hadn't told Natasha anything, but they wanted to make sure their relationship would last before they told anyone. They didn't want to cause breaks in their friendships because of their relationship if it ended.

"Doctor Stark!" Mercedes heard as soon as she walked into work.

Turning around to the voice, she seen a lower level agent quickly making their way over to her.

"Director Fury needs to see you immediately. He said it's urgent." The agent stated, and Mercedes nodded.

Mercedes' belly filled with butterflies as she thought about what Fury could want from her. For all she knew, her father could've found out that she worked with S.H.I.E.L.D and wanted her to leave immediately. She didn't want to lose her job because her father didn't like the idea of working for S.H.I.E.L.D. Walking to Fury's office, Mercedes lightly knocked on the door, before she was called to come inside.

"You needed to see me, Director Fury?" Mercedes asked, and Fury nodded.

"Yes, please, sit down." He replied, motioning to a chair in front of his desk.

Mercedes walked over to the seat, and was a little more curious when she seen Natasha and another agent in the room. She somewhat recognized the other agent, but he wasn't as good of an agent as Natasha or Clint, but that was according to ranks and records, not biased opinions.

"Doctor Stark, Agent Romanoff and I have decided that you need to start training as an agent to go along with your medical capabilities. Agent Lopez, Agent Romanoff, and you will be going on a small mission to see how far you've already gotten since your first day here. If you don't have any mishaps, you may not have to train with the other agents. Do your best, and these two agents will be reporting back to me after your mission." Fury stated, before he dismissed the three.

"Where did this come from?" Mercedes asked,"I've been here for a while and he's never approached me about being an agent before. What's changed?" She asked, causing Natasha to shrug.

"I don't know," Natasha replied,"Maybe he's made the decision because one of our agents was hurt on a mission, and if you hadn't taught me a bit about emergency medical care, he probably wouldn't have made it. Fury said he should be out of the hospital in a week, but you'll have to sign off that he's in your care." She said, and Mercedes sighed.

"I guess that's a good reason. I just have to be careful about what happens though, since Dad would kill me if I got hurt or taken as a hostage during a mission, especially since he doesn't even know I work here." Mercedes replied, causing Natasha to chuckle.

"Maybe you should tell him, Mercy. He might get mad, but at least he wouldn't have to find out the hard way." Natasha commented, but Mercedes simply shook her head.

"I can't, if he found out, even from me telling him, he might have a coronary." Mercedes answered, causing Natasha to roll her eyes.

"We both know he won't. You remember when he was my mission, that was literally only a couple of months ago." She retorted, making Mercedes shake her head.

"I'm just glad you were able to smack some sense into him. He never even told me he was dying. You were the one to tell me. Honestly, when I called him to confront him, he acted like it was nothing and everything was fine. He did apologize later though, I think Rhodey talked him into it, or Pepper." Mercedes said, and Natasha smiled sympathetically.

"Maybe you should keep your job from him for a little bit longer." Natasha murmured, causing Mercedes to nod.

"When is the mission?" Mercedes asked, as she headed towards her office.

"Tomorrow, so don't work too hard in your office. You don't want to be tired during your first mission." Natasha replied, before walking away from Mercedes.

With a sigh, Mercedes walked into her office and sat down at her desk. She needed time to come to terms with the idea of going on her first mission, especially since she had never actually planned to be an agent. She planned to be a very smart and very needed doctor, but she was now being given a spot as an agent when she didn't ask for it. She wondered if she needed to tell Clint the truth, but she figured he might already know. Natasha could've told him, but if she didn't, Mercedes still needed a bit to think it over before she told him herself.

"Doctor Stark," She heard, causing her to turn towards the door,"Agent Holmes is on his way to the office. From what I've heard, he has a few cuts, and possibly a broken bone." The lower agent told her, and she nodded.

Fury often had lower agents working near the medical wing to help Mercedes and the other doctors, though the agents mostly helped Mercedes, since she was the doctor that worked the most and worked the hardest. All of the other doctors were practically stand-ins when they weren't asked to fix the occasional cut or dislocated bone. Mercedes did the most, and she was happy with everything she did, even if that meant she worked until late hours of the night.

Agent Holmes came into the office, and Mercedes began to fix him up. Mercedes placed a cast on his wrist, as well as a few butterfly stitches on his face and arm. She was very good at knowing if a bone was broken or not based on the bruising, swelling, and color of the area. Once Agent Holmes was finished, Mercedes decided to sent Clint a message. She wanted him to know about her newest job, but she had to make sure he knew that he couldn't change anything...
