—Letters—The once well-built mansion stood tall and broken in front of the dull girl as if staring back at her with such dismay.
Though it was night time, you can see the wet ashes melting down to the ground.
how big of a deal was the misfortune if it had happened to someone else? will they break down in sorrow? was it an accident? These questions did not matter to the Mistress for these was not her thoughts, it's from the author."I am sorry for this inconvenience..." Mr. Tuts apologized, The Mistress payed no attention to him and ignored whatever he was saying as she looks around to see Agatha on the ground with a large wound on her left arm. As if she saw (Y/N)'s stare, Agatha looked back in shock to see the girl looking back at her with her (E/C) colored dull orbs.
The surviving servants walked passed the Mistress as if she was just another person they do not know, they gathered their remaining things and ignored the gurl for they were more focused on their own and forgot about the primadonna girl.
The priest looked around the broken place frantically, the end of his robe were filled with dirt as if he was running around the dirty, wet floor. The priest nodded at the people he passed as to say 'Thank the lord you're alright' but he was looking for the girl.
(Y/N) knew he was looking for her, for she was the most fragile being in town. The Mistress walked away from the Butler and cautiously stepped towards the man, with a look on her unattractive face she spoke "what is it, father?" The priest stopped and let out a shaky breath of relief "Child, thank the lord you're alright!"
You might suspect that the priest started the fire for he was acting suspicious but to answer your question, he did not.
The Priest was a loving uncle and a kind man, he wanted what's best for the child who's too weak to lift a chair. There were days where he tried convincing (F/N) and (M/N) to let the child be a child and run around the fields and play out where the sun was shining but they refused every time.If you're lucky with money, spoiled and even selfish, there are people who're bound to hate you and do things to get rid of you and the Priest knew this will happen and so he came prepared.
The doctors checked everyone's health and misfortune told (Y/N) that she was weak, she can die, what happens next? she accepted the fate of dying.
That night, he sat up late in his office and wrote three letters to the girl's closest relatives or perhaps, a family friend.
Hermanita Fernando, (M/N)'s older sister.
There he wrote the news and asked if they were willing to offer the Mistress a place to stay until spring.
Josef Dela Cruz, (F/N)'s younger brother.
In this letter, he asked for his sympathy to take care of the Mistress until spring.
Running out of relatives that the priest could think of that would actually give a care, he wrote; Señora Guzman. The mother of Mariano Guzman, A close friend of (M/N) Dela Cruz.
He wrote with his deepest condolences, he again wrote and asked if they were willing to take care of the Mistress until spring and as he signed his signature, he hoped and prayed that wherever Mistress was sent to, she's be happy to stay and experience life as a child."Are you not to farm?" Questioned a child.
(Y/N) had gone to the field to play for the priest offered the time to spend outside.
Agatha had agreed to work two more days for the Mistress, the priest had the money the Dela Cruz left behind. Once the Mistress will come of age, he had no more rights to take care of the money and so he kept it banked and spent no cent for the church have enough money."why should I?" (Y/N) replied, looking down at the yellow flower by her shoes. The child laughed, she tore her gaze from the flower and to the child. The Mistress found his face funny. The child's black braided hair, hazel eyes and tan skin were glowing ever so slightly, his nose was upturned and his cheeks were tinted red.
(Y/N) was jealous."to survive, we need nutrients after all" the child, no more than 10, commented. (Y/N) felt weak, her tummy was filled with tingling sensation making her express an emotion, "I will not survive, I am too weak" Some people want to live forever, sarcastic suicidal remarks but they're not afraid of death. They're scared of what comes after death.
Will they be haunted by their guilts? will they remember every moment they cherished? how come (Y/N) easily accepted death itself?"Me too, Mama said I'm too weak to carry a boulder but she also said once I'm bigger and stronger—I can carry maybe even two boulders!" The naive child shared, (Y/N) was not a big fan of conversations but the child caught her attention. The Mistress questioned the child if he had known about the world but he shook his head as an answer.
"Some people raided our town so we left and visited my grandparents! Though, we didn't stay for long" The child explained, The Mistress looked at the ground and picked at the itchy grass she sat on. Was she willing to listen to the child to pass time? not even the adults can keep hold of a conversation between them so why was she hanging on tight?
"I met this boy, he had curly hair and freckles on his tan face—he shapeshifts! One time he shapeshifted into me and did pretty good impressions of other people I met along the way" (Y/N) listened carefully, paying no mind to the child who was a little too close for her liking.
"that's stupid." The Mistress replied, the child's smile faltered and looked at her with his large doll eyes "logically, a person cannot shapeshift into anything! There's no such thing as shapeshifters" The Mistress explained, she was getting frustrated. (Y/N) wanted to believe it but this was a child she was talking to, children makes things up and dreamed about floating cities in the sky.
"He's real, he even talked about how his mother can control the weather—" The child was getting upset, his eyes were quickly filled with tears making it gloss, every time he tells someone about the characters they always point and laugh.
(Y/N) quickly changed the mood by asking more about these characters "There was this one time where he talked about his Prima who can make flowers bloom!" The child nodded eagerly, he was enjoying his time with the teenager who he rarely saw around town.
"I saw it with my own eyes! See, my grandpapa's garden was dead but then she swiftly flicked her fingers and pretty flowers bloomed from the ground." (Y/N) was close to throwing a tantrum but then again, she stopped herself to not scare the child away, for once, the Mistress wanted to know more about the child's childish dream.
The next day came so quickly, (Y/N) was surprised and was mesmerized how the sun slowly sets upon the hills that stood confidently tall from a distance.
The priest was also surprised to see a letter that came a day early, quickly snatching the letter from the mail then to his office to skim through the letter.
The words made him smile for it was;
'We have come to an agreement to offer the mistress, who we'd be happy to meet soon, a place to call home.'
It was signed by;
'Mariano Guzman'
The priest jumped in joy and thanked the lord for the wonderful reply of a letter, asking for Agatha (who just finished dressing the Mistress) to pack the remaining things (Y/N) had for she had an adventure ahead of her.
