Ardor was sitting across from Mayne legs pulled up to his chest, arms rested on his knees. Mayne was trying to remain calm still, she knew he needed answers "Maybe we should start at the beginning" Mayne sighed "you know, start by telling each other the very things we are scared to talk about with anyone."
"That is a great idea." Ardor smiled wondering who should go first.
"Who goes first?" Mayne fidgeted with the towel. Ardor silently laughed at the fact that they were thinking alike. Mayne was not eager to go first, she wanted to know what Ardor was thinking.
"What the hell," he sighed "you are actually not the first female to get pissed at me like this, but you are the first to be more forgiving about it."
"Has this exact thing happened before?" Mayne adjusted the towel, making sure it was covering her properly. Ardor frowned "You just say that like this is nothing new."
"Meaning?" He was relaxing more and more but he still wondered; her calm demeanor was helping him try to figure this out, but he could still see something in her eyes that concerned him.
"Have you felt something hidden in anyone else's mind and misinterpreted it as secrets or lies?" Silently she hoped he would say no.
"Yes," he adjusted to get more comfortable on the floor of the bathroom "but you are the first to see it as something different than what everyone thought," he sighed "not even Rime picked up on that."
"Sensorymage..." she smiled "So, there are things about each other that you two don't know?"
"Yes, we are supposed to be flat honest with each other, but we have been told to hold back." He chuckled "usually it's about girls. Holding back helps us not to overload from our power outputs." He sighed in frustration. "This is something I can't talk to him about."
"Tell me, what have you learned in order to adjust to each other..." she thought of how to put it. "For instance, when I first started showing signs of being a healer it was not received well by the community." She forced herself to examine the long-buried memories "I had to learn to be shy to survive, quiet and subtle rather than loudly declare what I see in visions."
"You learned not to trust anyone." He frowned, he hadn't realized her childhood was like that "That's sad." He wanted to just hold her, but he wasn't sure if she had forgiven him yet. "Sad that you were forced to retreat to protect yourself."
"Yeah, I guess that is a great way to put it." She sighed "it is a bit more than that though, I know that people react in odd ways to learning that I have visions so sometimes it is best to not let on."
"Visions..." he chuckled "whenever you mention the visions I think of lottery tickets or predictions and stuff."
