The next morning started out boring, just like how life used to be before the attack. Mayne had missed the daily mundane boredom that life could bring. Ardor and Rime had brought her breakfast in bed, after breakfast she sat and did some research on the computer for a while, and caught up on recent social events. So far the day was relaxing and easy, she just didn't realize how much she missed the mundane. But things had suddenly changed, the air in the house had gotten tense and people were arguing. Mayne sat nervously on the bed as the twins argued in the hall, the rest of the group had bailed during the height of the argument leaving just the two of them to continue the argument. She was unsure of what the issue was, but she was scared that it was somehow about her. They both entered the room clearly concerned about something. "You two are scaring me, the group has been arguing all morning... what's wrong?"

"We need your help" Rime spun the desk chair around and sat down resting his chin on the back of the chair. His expression was flat and unrevealing.

Ardor sat down on Rime's bed across from her. "There is a group that requested backup, but the problem is nobody in the group can go with us," he took a deep breath cleansing the argument over this that happened moments earlier with the other group members. "But" silently he was hoping this worked "if Rime and I go alone..." he sighed

"We need you," Rime interrupted "We need your help."

"I've been through training yes, so I can help" Mayne paused to release the concern before it intruded on this moment with a vision. "But you realize you never took me into battle..." She couldn't help but wonder what it will be like.

Ardor laughed "Think of it as a sparring match." He smiled at her hoping that she was really the one, everyone was talking and arguing about it; debating if her abilities could hold up next to them "all you have to do is zap 'em." He and Rime had faith in her, they knew she could do it, nobody else wanted to risk it considering her parentage.

"Okay," she stood up realizing the look on their faces meant that something was up "let's go before I change my mind." Internally she knew she could fight, but Mayne was aware that vision knowledge and street smarts were totally different.

"Alright," Rime stood up and headed out of the room followed by Mayne and then Ardor. They headed for the portal where Rime entered the coordinates and glanced back at her. "Let's kick some ass." He smiled as Ardor rolled his eyes. Mayne followed them through the portal. She emerged in a doorway of a store at an empty intersection. Ardor and Rime stayed behind her and watched her carefully. "Keep in mind that what we are here to fight was too much for the other teams," Mayne nodded at Rime and stepped cautiously into the street to looked around. Within seconds a rush of wind from a person moving faster than normally possible blew past her and halted at the doorway they had come through.

"Head on in," Ardor barked "we got your back, is the rest of your group following."

Mayne turned and saw a bloody woman limping into the portal "no, they are down, it followed me, be ready." She entered the portal and it buzzed as if someone locked it from the other side.
