25. Behind the Pain

                     The next couple of days were filled with a lot of down time. Letance was to remain confined in the Eido due to its strong defense systems and mental blocking capabilities. Mayne was responsible for feeding her and monitoring her since Healers of her strength are immune to Mental Elites. Something that was needed with what Letance had studied to get yet another abusive jab at the boys. In between the time spent with her Mayne was spending her down time researching the dating history of Ardor and Rime based on the list of names they had provided to her. She was shocked to learn that it was dull and abusive, she had a newfound respect for the boys and all the abuse they had been through.

                     Ardor and Rime's encounter with Letance had everyone concerned and kept the boys in constant doctor appointments and psychological examinations to verify their minds were safe and undamaged. Twins like them were complicated so the officials were being extra cautious. Mayne was attending every appointment with them; she wanted to know exactly how to take care of them in the future. She planned a long and wonderful life with them, so she was eager to learn how to heal and protect them both.

                   After the group discussed the boy's theory on Filers Ethan was curious and decided to divide his time between Miss Reynolds and the boys. While with Miss Reynolds he would typically just listen to her talk about everything that was in her head that wasn't her own. However, today he was thinking of an unusual path "I want to try something new today." He pulled out pictures and spread them out in front of her.

                 "These are from my childhood" Miss Reynolds smiled "Why..." she looked at Ethan curiously.

                 "I think we need to strengthen your own memories." He tapped on one of the pictures "tell me about this one." Her smile broadened as she relayed the story. With every happy memory they discussed he noticed her mental strength to keep the intrusion in her mind caged get stronger. When he got back to the Eido he dropped his notes off in his suite, gave Theus a kiss and headed off to check the security cameras in the Eido for anything he missed that day. As he sat down at the console in the main computer room, he immediately noticed Mayne standing several feet from the cell door, watching Letance silently, "curious..." he turned on the sound and listened closely as he watched Mayne's still figure.

                  Mayne recalled several notes that she had learned the past few days. First that Letance is a narcissist with a low IQ. Second that she believes her long black hair to her waist and dark deep brown eyes make her the most beautiful female on the planet. Finally, she learned that Letance has the attitude and belief that no matter her actions she is a saint and anyone who says otherwise is the criminal. Mayne stood watching Letance as she slept, evaluating her now as well as the memories of her every movement and gesture. Her lack of muscle structure and robust frame brought the realization that Letance doesn't work out like she does, Mayne felt a wave of sorrow over that. Her workouts with Ardor and Rime are so much fun, how could she miss out on that. Her physical frame showed her weaknesses that made her easily bested in battle. Mayne noted that Letance does have good endurance "You can't fight, but you might outlast your opponent. I need to work on that, I need to work on endurance." Mayne then wondered what other improvements she could make.

                  Letance snorted in her sleep and rolled over "Rime" was dreaming of the boys. Mayne wondered if all their exes had a hard time letting them go. "No... mine..." she startled herself awake but was aware she wasn't alone, so she laid still and pretended to still be sleeping.
