For the fifth time that night, Sara heard the first two rings of the call and ended it, placing her phone on the kitchen table. She had tried to muster up the courage and the words to call Jasper and apologize and fix things before he left. He meant more to her than her stubborn nature could care to admit, but it was so difficult. It was so difficult to make the first move; to pick up the phone, or even worse, to see him in person.

Brushing her phone aside, she picked up her fork and shoved spoonfuls of pasta into her mouth - if one thing could make her feel better, it was Clara's cooking.

She looked up and saw Casey walking towards the kitchen from the garden. Locking the glass door behind him, he walked up to the stove and served himself some food.

Raising an eyebrow, he frowned at her. "You've chickened out like fifty times now, just make the stupid call!"

"Huh?" she looked up at him.

"Look, Sara, he's going away soon, you can't just end it like this. You're like best mates! C'mon!"

"Were," she corrected him.

"Whatever, just call him."

"Since when did you become so pushy?" she joked.

"HA HA, just call him."

"I know, I know, I want to. I just, I dunno' what to say to him," she shrugged.

"You're kidding?! You, you of all people, and you don't know what to say to him? You know him the most out of anyone, you know him more than his mum does."

"Yeah," she started. "But she's never around, that doesn't count."

"Stop making excuses! Just tell him what you're thinking. C'mon, just do it!"

"Sorry Nike!" she laughed, earning a push from him. "Oh, c'mon Case! He thought I was pregnant. He actually thought I'd be stupid enough to get myself knocked up! What do you say to someone who thinks that?"

"I dunno', I've never been in the situation myself."

"Well, then, you're a sh*tty friend aren't you?" Sara laughed.

"Stop looking for excuses and call him! Do it! Now!"

"Fine, fine... After I eat!" she squirmed.

"NOW!"

"Okay, okay, fine. Then get lost!"

"Oi, it's my house."

"Yeah, but I'm the guest."

"Guest my a*s! Just call him okay?"

Sara nodded and shoved Casey out of the kitchen before picking up her phone to call Jasper again.

"Here goes," she sighed as it started ringing. There was no answer at the other end of the call, so she called again and it went straight to Jasper's voicemail:

"Hi it's Jasper's phone. I dunno' why I haven't answered, it's probably lost or something, so leave a message and I might call back. See ya!"

His message made her laugh and she was reminded of how much she loved his personality. His absentmindedness was what made her laugh and she knew then that this was what she wanted to do. She knew she was doing the right thing by calling him, she wanted to fix everything. So, she left a message.

"Heeey J, it's me Sara. Look, I know I messed up okay and I don't want things to be like this anymore. I can't even take it that you're leaving and I dunno' why I lashed out at you, maybe, well, yeah, I guess I was just p*ssed and I took it out on you! You didn't deserve it and now you're going and I don't even know where you're going and oh my, okay I'm a sh*t friend and we argue all the time, but that's what friends do right? I dunno when you're leaving, I don't even know if you're just there and you're not picking up 'cos it's me, I guess, maybe that's cool 'cos I said some pretty mean sh*t back there and I don't treat you like best friends should do and I suck, but you don't J. I miss you so badly and now it's okay that I'm being soppy and stuff 'cos you're going, so it doesn't even matter anymore. And seeing you in class made me feel sh*t 'cos you don't deserve to be treated like that. The others were right, I went mega loony and you basically did nothing to deserve it, so, if I don't see you again, if..." and Sara was starting to break out into tears.

"If I don't see you again J, just remember that we had a great run and you were, no, you're like the best mate I could ever have and I hope you make friends that treat you way better than I did. And, and... I really hope you're happy J, 'cos you deserve to be. I miss you and I'm gonna miss you sh*tloads more. And I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I'm just so f*cking sorry that I hurt you."

After a short pause, Sara wiped away some of the tears streaming down her face and whispered into the phone.

"Bye J. Bye."

Sara ended the call and slipped the phone onto the kitchen table before sliding down to the floor against the cupboard, her knees pulled up and her head buried in her hands. It was one of the hardest things that she had ever had to do, to say goodbye. A goodbye that hurt more than words could describe. A raw, deep pain that she held onto. Her cries were silent as tears ran down her face.

Casey stomped into the kitchen, looking for her. "Yo Sara, Bree needs..." but he stopped when he saw her in a heap on the floor. "Sara?" he whispered quietly, but she didn't look up. "Aww Sara." He bent down on the floor beside her and pulled her in close. "You're brave alright? C'mon, it's alright. It's done now, it's done."

She rested her head on his shoulder, hoping to feel somewhat better. It just hurt all the more.

A/N

Heeeyy friends :D Okay, this is very short, but she did it! YAAYYY! You're brave Sara, braaaave! So, yep, Jasper is leaving :'( And Tyler has been so MIA I'm beginning to think he doesn't even exist. Anywaaay, next chapter should be up soon. Maybe there will be 30 chapters? I dunno? 3 more? 4 more? Hope this wasn't too cliche-y. But basically, she's v v sad, so let's let her be sad!

Until next time, Byeee
