“Hi Clara,” Jasper greeted her as she opened the front door. “I’m here for Sara,” he smiled as she beckoned for him to come in.

“Come on in, I’ll call her downstairs!” She directed Jasper into the sitting room where he perched on the end of the couch.

“SARA!” he heard Clara’s voice bellow up the stairs as she replied. “Jasper!”

“I’ll be down in a minute!” Sara sang as she came rushing down the stairs. “HEY!” she greeted Jasper and pulled him in for a hug.

“Hey yourself!” he hugged her back and then pulled her aside to take a look at her. Raising an eyebrow and nodding slightly, he saw her break out into a shy smile.

“W-h-a-t?” she whined, covering her face with her hands.

He removed her hands from her face and pulled them down to her side. “Nothing,” he smiled. “You look great.”

“Aww J!” Sara blushed and tugged at her dark purple sweater that doubled up as a short dress. “It’s nothing much – I hope Lana doesn’t mind.”

“I’m sure she’ll be thrilled!” Jasper rolled his eyes and Sara grabbed his arm.

“What’s with the sarcasm?” she inquired.

“Nothing, nothing. She’s just been p*ssing me off lately! She won’t shut up about Ryan, like literally, she doesn’t shut up!”

“Yeah,” Sara drawled. “She bought him up today too. Girl’s got the hots for him.”

“Yeah, well, let’s hope he feels the same or we won’t hear the last of it,” he exclaimed and smiled as Sara took hold of his hand. “Shall we go?”

“Yes,” she beamed up at him. “We shall.”

“OKAY! THIS PARTY IS MAD!” Sara found herself screaming at the top of her voice so that Jasper could hear her. There was music blasting from all ends of the main seating room and kids partying everywhere.

“AND I THOUGHT TYLER’S PARTIES WERE CRAZY!” Jasper exclaimed over the noise of the crowd. Sara threw him a small smile in an attempt to hide her awkwardness, but he saw the look on her face. “Are you okay?” he mouthed, realising that she wouldn’t be able to hear him over the loud music.

She nodded and gave him her best fake smile. Eventually, he bought it and nodded back. He pointed towards the food and drinks table, inferring that he was going to get something and Sara smiled. She saw Jasper disappear into the crowds of people and turned to look around the room.

The party was definitely in full swing and it was clear that Lana didn’t hold back. She wasn’t usually one to throw such big parties, but it seemed like she was going all out for this one. After all, she was moving schools, it made sense to go out with a bang.

Sara was startled by a tap on her shoulder and turned around to find Lana with two cups of drink in her hand.

“Heeeeeeey!” Lana yelled and pulled her in for a hug, being careful so as not to spill any of her drink.

“Hey!” Sara screamed. “Some party!” she threw her arms up in the air.

Lana pulled a silly face and stuck her tongue out at Sara. She had clearly been drinking. “Is Jasper here? Did he bring Ryan?”

“WHAT?” Sara mouthed as she couldn’t hear what Lana was saying.

Soon, Lana got fed up from having to shout and brushed it off. She quickly kissed Sara’s forehead, danced around her for a while and then Sara couldn’t see her anymore. She’s probably having a great time, Sara thought to herself as she sighed inwardly.
