After the third day of nausea and pampering his husband to the brink of insanity, Harry decided that he had had enough. There was obviously something else here at play, and he was not going to muck about with the health of his Omega. He had been up at ungodly hours of the morning and night, with his head in a toilet bowl, and now it was time to find out what was the cause.
He wanted answers, and he wanted them now. So after his morning shower, he had again left Draco in bed fast asleep, and went to see Narcissa.
He relayed to her that nobody else was sick, so it couldn't be from food, and yes he could easily run his hand over Draco again, but he didn't want to risk anything. Just now he made matters worse, and he wouldn't be able to live with himself.
Please could she arrange that the best female Healer from St. Mungo's pay them a house call. He didn't care what it would cost, but he needed to save Draco. She agreed and did as he asked. She told Harry that it was woman by the name of Gloria Barnett, and she would be coming to the Manor in one hour. Harry thanked her, and went to sit by Draco's bedside to wait for her. He was glad that he had asked for a woman. The though of another man's hands on what belonged to him made him want to punch his fist through the wall.
It was a long hour, but before it had passed, Draco had woken up and was feeling his old cheerful self. But Harry wasn't taking any chances, and told Draco that he had arranged for a Healer to come and tend to him. Draco knew he was worried, and kissed him deeply because of it. Putting all of his love into that one kiss and Harry swallowed it up like a man dying of thirst. Just then there was a knock on the door. Harry broke off the kiss, smiled at Draco and went to see who was on the other side.
It was Narcissa. She spoke to Harry telling him that perhaps he should tell the Healer what Draco was going through, seeing as he was the only one who had witnessed it. He agreed and went to the parlor where he found the woman in her white coat. He introduced himself to her and smiled at her warm touch.
"I know who you are Mr Malfoy-Potter. It's an honor to meet you finally", she said. Harry smiled and blushed because he had never felt any intrigue or stupid feelings at just hearing his name, but he supposed it was different for others.
"Please, call me Harry. Thank you for coming on such short notice", he said, guiding her towards a chair.
"Now why don't you tell me what's going on with your husband", she said kindly. Harry pursed his lips, sat forward with his elbows on his knees, and went on to tell her when it had started, and what Draco was going through every day. How he wanted to help him, but he didn't know how. The nausea, the constant need to be held by Harry - not that he was complaining - the denial for the offer of food when it was given. The restless sleep that Draco had been going through for the past 3-4 days now. He told her everything.
She smiled at him and said thank you. "I would like to examine him in private if you don't mind Harry", hoping that he would agree. Harry looked at her and wondered if she knew of his power to hurt people who would even think of hurting Draco. But all he saw in her eyes was kindness and worry. He nodded his head and said of course. "But only if you leave the door open", he stated.
She agreed, and turned towards their bedroom door. Harry opened it for her and he could see that Narcissa was sitting on the chair next to their bed, and was holding onto Draco's hand. She was smiling, almost as if they had just shared a secret. He loved seeing her smile, he thought and when he looked at Draco, all he could see was wonder. It was what he could feel too, and felt a warm fuzzy feeling go through him. He tilted his head and wondered what that was about.
Gloria introduced herself to Draco and then asked Narcissa if she could have a private moment with her patient. Narcissa rose up and walked towards the door where Harry was waiting patiently. When she stepped out, she took hold of his hand and spoke in a motherly tone to him. One that he had only heard once before. That time when she had asked if Draco was still alive in the Castle.
"Harry, Draco is going to be fine. You shouldn't worry yourself so". He looked at her and nodded his head. "Come. You and I will have tea while they are busy, and talk about little things", she said to him. Not knowing or appreciating the pun she had just used, he followed her but kept looking back towards the room. "She is the best there is Harry, let her do her job, all right?", she said sternly.
Harry knew he was being over-protective and honestly he didn't really care. He had made a vow to protect him with his life, and he would. Nothing like the kidnapping would ever happen again, he would see to it. But Narcissa knew that her words sounded empty to the man, and so called their house elf - Nancy - to please ask Lucius to join them. She did so without question, and when her husband walked into the room, it seemed as if Harry were a bit more calm.
His Matrix. Bringing calm to him when his Omega could not. He didn't even think to call for his second ground, Septys, because honestly, he could feel no danger. It was just the on-going feeling of worry that had him concerned, and he didn't like it. He didn't like it one bit. They enjoyed their tea, but if you were to ask Harry what flavor he had had, he wouldn't be able to tell you, because he wasn't paying attention to that.
And before you knew it, the Healer was finished and was on her way out of the room. She approached Harry very slowly, but when he saw her, he rose out of his chair so fast, that the teacup he was holding, shook in his hands. Mumbling his apologies, he set the cup down on the table, and braced himself for what she was going to tell him.
She smiled at him and simply said, "Harry. Draco asked that he be the one to tell you what is going on. I will be coming back every week to check on him", and with that she squeezed his arm, and said her goodbyes, and made her way towards the big black doors that separated the Manor from the outside world.
Now Harry was really confused. How would Draco know what medical term to use, and would he get his story straight. Shit he thought, just standing there. He badly wanted to know, but at the same time he wanted to hit something, because they had just found each other. So what was wrong? And what exactly did Draco want to tell him. Excusing himself with some sort of sob, because as Draco has mentioned before, he was a sentimental prat, he apologized and made his way back towards his lover.
