In bed later that night after everyone had left to go home, Harry and Draco were lying in each other's arms. After a serious bout of love making, with Harry being the one entered, they were sated and in a heated round of kissing. Harry had taken Draco by the throat, and the other hand in his hair, had kissed him so demandingly, that Draco had to wonder what was going on. A form of submission had to be given it seemed, and Draco had no problems with that. He would always submit to the Alpha, there was no question to think otherwise.

But Draco had the feeling that this was from some underlying thing, and that it had nothing to do with him, or their love. He would wait until Harry told him, which he knew he would. When Harry had let go of him, and demanded that Draco hold him, Draco understood. Being held by the Alpha was what gave him life, but holding onto the Alpha told him that Harry needed calming. He was stroking his back with one hand, and Draco could practically hear the wheels turning in his brain.

[I can hear you thinking Harry] he said softly.

It took a while for Harry to reply. He sighed and took a deep breath and told Draco what had transpired before dinner. He told him that Dumbledore had asked forgiveness from him, for giving him to the muggle family that he had lived with. Almost as if he feared that Harry hated him for it, and wanted to be resolved from the guilt. And Harry didn't understand why he had asked that.

[Perhaps he feels now that he could have made a better decision after hearing about the horrors you went through my love] said Draco.

[No, that's not it. He told me many times, and so did Mcgonagall, that there were a lot of wizard families that would have taken me in. He didn't want me to be surrounded by fame at that young age. Well at least that's what he told me at the time] replied Harry.

Draco thought about this answer, and tried to make Harry understand that perhaps he was finally coming to terms with what he had done, and that even though it had been a good decision at the time, it probably wasn't the best in the long run and was only just realizing that.

"But that doesn't make sense. A man like Dumbledore doesn't make mistakes, and he always knows what's going on before it even happens. Something else is going on here", he said. And before Draco could answer, Harry spoke again.

"Did you also notice that Severus hardly said a word tonight, and when he did, it was not to Dumbledore. Like they are in the midst of having an argument, and neither of them are willing to back down. Come on baby, tell me you saw it", he growled.

Draco had seen the weird interaction between the two men tonight and at the time had wondered what it was. He had originally thought that because it was time for N.E.W.T.S. that Severus had a lot on his plate, but he had never been known to let it bother him before. "All right. Let's say you're right and something is going on. That they are having an argument. What do you think it could be about?", he asked.

"Remember when I told you that Dumbledore was hiding something in his mind, and you told me that I had to wait until someone came to me about it?",

Draco nodded.

"I think that Snape knows what it is. I also think that he doesn't like it. He doesn't like having the knowledge", he finished. Draco pulled Harry closer to him and said they could think about it more in the morning. If, after a certain time, the atmosphere hadn't changed, then perhaps they could ask if they could do anything to help. That way, maybe one of the men would tell them something. Harry agreed.

He leaned down to kiss his husband on his stomach, and although there was no kick tonight, felt safe in the knowledge that the babies were holding onto each other, just as he and Draco were doing.

Narcissa and Lucius had gone to bed a while ago, and even she had seen the distant look in Dumbledore's eyes, asking her husband if he had noticed anything strange. Lucius nodded his head in thought, and wondered what could be bothering the man so much that he had been this talkative tonight. Dumbledore had always been a man to sit on the sideline and take note of what was happening around him. Severus on the other hand, had been the exact opposite, saying almost nothing the entire time. He reassured his wife that he would speak to Severus in the morning and try to find out what was going on.

Back at Hogwarts, the three teachers had said their goodbyes to each other, and made their separate ways to their rooms. Snape and Mcgonagall had walked down a corridor together, when she put her hand on his arm, asking if he was all right. He hadn't seemed himself all evening, and she was sure that the others had noticed too.

He sneered at her, and even though it was supposed to look menacing, it wasn't. She was used to the Snape sneer by now, and just raised her eyebrows in a show of defiance. "Severus", she said sternly.

He thought that if she had noticed, and the others had too, he would have to work harder at hiding the truth from them. He knew he could do it, but it was exhausting, but sweet Merlin, did he really want to? He raised his chin and just answered, "I am tired Minerva. There is nothing wrong, you have my word", and walked away with his cloak billowing behind him.

Minerva Mcgonagall was not a stupid woman, but she was a patient one. He would tell her when the time was right, and she had to respect that. She went to her room, locked herself inside, and went to bed.

The foundation of all their worries were based on one thing, and one thing only. Dumbledore had not been himself at dinner, and they all vowed that they were going to find out why. What was pulling at his heart strings so bad, that he could change so drastically overnight.
