76. Name Calling

The twins were two days old, and Harry and Draco were in bed one morning, trying to decide what their names were going to be.  You can't have children and not name them for Merlin's sake, Draco had said.  Harry was not to leave the bed until they had come to a unanimous decision.  He loved the demanding side of Draco, and was happy about the staying in bed part.  His twins were exquisite, and Harry couldn't get enough of them.  At every opportunity he would want to hold them, nuzzle them and kiss them.  

Their skins so soft, the noises they made were so cute, and their tiny little fingers were so strong in their death like grip.  Every time Harry offered his finger, they would take it, pulling it to their mouths to suckle on.  He was in love every day, and he thrived on it.  

After about half an hour of coming up with silly names, Harry just blurted out, "What about Severus James and Sirius Lucius?".  When Draco looked at him, he thought that he had made the man angry, because were those tears forming in his eyes?  "I'm sorry, I didn't mean...."

"It's perfect", said Draco dreamly.  "Severus and Sirius, I love it", he declared and kissed Harry hard on the mouth.

Harry was floored.  "You really mean that?", he asked unsure.

"Yes angel.  Originally I didn't want family names, because who do you choose and who do you leave out, but I think the names are perfect", he said again.  Happy with himself for solving the name issue, he smiled at his love.

"And father has always said that there shouldn't be another boy with the first name Lucius in the family, for fear of them judging him based on what he has done, but this he will enjoy, I'm sure", Draco said.

Harry never knew that about Lucius, he had always assumed that the man would demand that the first born take his name.  Just went to show how much he had changed.  When it was time for the babies to be fed, Draco warmed up their bottles and gave Severus to Harry and took Sirius for himself, got cozy and gave them their milk.  Harry would never grow tired of looking at his sons, two little people that he and Draco had created out of love.

After burping and changing them, they were back in their cribs and Harry and Draco went to dinner to announce what their children's names were.  Lucius was estatic when he heard that one of them would bear his name as a second, thanking the men that he was indeed very humbled.  After breakfast, they both went to the library to tell Sirius the same thing.

When they were standing in front of the portrait, he asked when he was going to be allowed to see the babies.  Harry smiled and said sooner than you think, because one of them is your namesake, making Sirius stutter.

"You called one of them Sirius", he asked with disbelief.

"Yes we have", answered Draco.  "I just hope that he will not be the same rebel as you were Sirius Black", making Harry chuckle.  

"You have both made me a very happy man, thank you.  And for the record, I will do everything in my power to ensure that his entire personality is based on being the best rebel he can be", he answered with a laugh.

Chase Harley had been called and asked to please put it out in the Daily Prophet that the Alpha twins had been named, but unfortunately there would be no pictures.  Harry didn't want anyone to see what he could, not yet anyway.  They could all wait and when he thought it was time, then he would show off his sons to the world.  But for now, they were wrapped up in safety and love at the Manor, and the world could go on without knowing what they looked like for a while longer.

Pansy and Hermoine were loving the fact that they were godparents, and it stood to reason that she and Blaise would be the one to Severus, while Ron and Hermoine would be the one to Sirius.

When the teachers had been called and were told of the names, Severus had to take a moment to himself.  He was standing outside, his breath coming out in cold vapors, and when Draco found him, they looked at each other in understanding.  

"Thank you Draco, I had no idea that you would name your son after me", he said.

"Oh it wasn't my idea.  Harry is the one that came up with the names", he replied.  Severus looked at him as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.  "Harry chose the names?", he asked just to be sure.

Draco nodded and said yes.  "I told him that the babies had to have names today, and he called it.  I think they're perfect", he said lovingly.

"They most certainly are", agreed Snape.  Then after thanking Draco again, went to go and find Harry to thank him also.  When he did, he found him in the library again, talking to a portrait.

"Harry", he said making the man look up.

"Severus?", he asked.  "Is everything all right, you look upset?".

"No, everything is fine.  Draco told me that it was you who chose the names?", he asked.

Harry nodded.  "Thank you Harry, it is most certainly not what I was expecting", he said, exhaling a breath.

"You named the one son after Severus?", asked the portrait.  Snape looked closer and saw that the occupant was none other than Sirius Black, a man who had tormented him in school.  "Yes he did.  Have anything to say?", he asked snidely.

"To you?  Nothing actually", he said and faced the other way.  

Harry felt the tension when Snape had entered the library, and knew of their past rivalry.  "One of my sons is named after Severus, and one is named after you Sirius.  I suggest the both of you accept that, and try not to goad each other please", he warned.

Snape could also not believe that one of the Alpha twins would bear the mutt's name, but thought better of it.  The mutt was no longer with them, and if he had any say in how they were raised or schooled, would never behave as one, that was for sure.  Harry nodded at both of them and left the library.

Snape and the portrait bore holes into each other with their stares, and looked away at the same time.  There would be another day for name calling, but now was not the time.  Snape left the library and slammed the door, while Sirius was sulking and made his way to a different portrait at Grimmauld Place.
