I can't erase Aid's words from the past week out of my head. I looked through my phone to see whether he had sent me any texts. Given our personal past, I'm somewhat anxious. What if he was still furious and went after Tati? I know Aid will protect our daughter, but I really want Aid's father to acknowledge Tati.

I realized as if I had been transported back to reality when my field of vision was brought to Zoren's annoyed expression. He gulped his wine and heaved deeply, looking away.

"I am sorry," mabilis kong sabi. "Should we order now?"

We're now in the restaurant that Aid had booked for us. He fulfilled his word when he said it would satisfy our preferences. The interior design is relatively modern, yet because of the shade, they were able to maintain a medieval ambiance.

"Makakaya mo ba talagang ganito tayo?" seryoso kong tanong.

He fastened his attention on me. "You initiated this, and you didn't even come to see me for a week."

"Hindi na tayo bata, Zoren. Marami akong responsibilidad. I texted you regularly! I called you several times. What exactly did you do? You didn't reply! You never bothered to answer!" inis kong saad.

"This is not what you guaranteed me about our relationship.

We remained silent, wondering what to do next. Our relationship is becoming unhealthy, and I'm not sure I can let go since I have high hopes for us.

"I am sorry, Ava."

My eyes were captivated by him. He tapped the table with his fingers, looking guilty and disheartening. He seemed to be hesitant about telling me something.

"I had a long-term relationship before. We were together for nine years, and everything was working great until I saw her kissing her ex." He chuckled sadly, contemplating the past. "I was willing to forgive her since I thought it was only once, but I found out they had been back together for a year, which means she was cheating behind my back."

My heart is clenching, particularly considering how his behavior has been influenced by his previous relationship.

"I know my experience will never be a justification for how I've treated you these past few weeks," he continued. "But I am ready to change and become a better partner to you. I am determined to overcome my insecurities and offer you my everything, so please be patient with me and stick by my side."

His smile got warmer when I squeezed it, assuring him that everything will work out between us.

"Why are you late?" Kuya wondered, checking his pocket watch.

I chuckled. "Do I look like a teenager or what?"
