"Last na lang talaga!"
"Daddy naman, e! You told me that numerous times already!"
"Stop whining, little girl. Food will speed up your healing."
Tati scowled. "I'm already okay!"
"No!" Umiling si Aid. "Look, oh! You still have rashes all over your body!"
At last, it was agreed that Tati would be released the following morning.
He glanced at me. "Yes. I need to go.
He extended his goodbyes to us before he gave Aid a nod, leaving the room.
"Is something wrong with Kuya?" tanong ko kay mommy dahil baka napansin niya din ang mood ni Kuya ngayon.
She exhaled a deep breath.
Maybe seeing Tati and Aid earlier triggered his yearning for Achi because they could have been a family if that awful tragedy hadn't happened years ago.
"Uuwi na rin ako. My back hurts from all the sitting," Mom grumbled as she stood up. Tiningnan niya ako. "I will notify the company that you will not be physically there tomorrow. Just spend the entire day tomorrow with your daughter."
"Thank you, Mommy." I don't want her to think I'm only there whenever something bad strikes her. I don't want her to be treated in the same way I was handled many years ago.
"Be a good girl and sleep early, okay?"
When she hopped inside the car, she opened the window and peeked at me.
"Hindi ka ba uuwi ngayon?" she asked.
I shook my head.
"Your mother was a very intimidating woman back then! All she did was roll her eyes at me!"
How dare this guy!
"Really?" hindi makapaniwala na tanong ni Tati. "But my mommy is so nice and compassionate to me. She has never tried rolling her eyes at me!"
"She hates me back then," tumatawang sagot ng lalaki.
"So, she loves me!" saad naman ni Tati.
Aid ruffled her hair and smiled. "Of course, my little rockstar. Who wouldn't love you?"
