BEFORE
It had been a month since Agnes's abduction and she had barely left her new room. She liked Drake, he was kind to her and looked like an older version of her brother Brent.
"Morning sweetie" Prudence called from the doorway. Agnes didn't like Prudence. She followed Agnes around and refused to let Agnes out of her sight.
"Hi" Agnes said as she lay back down. She had lost her family, she had just lost them. How could these people think that she could just move on from missing them so fast? She couldn't just stop loving them, they were and always would be her family, not these people.
"Would you like to help me with breakfast? The chickens laid eggs... we could go pick them?" Agnes turned slightly to face Prudence she lay still as she watched Prudence move closer to her. "Its been a month Agnes, you need to get out of bed, please try and start to live again." Agnes knew that Prudence was right and that she was only trying to make this hard time better but something didn't feel right.
"Morning pumpkin," Drake said from the door, Agnes sat up straight and ran to him. Prudence let out a grunt of disapproval. "What were you still doing in bed? Didn't you see the snow outside?" Agnes looked out her window, or where her window would have been if she were at home only to realize that she didn't have a window here. "Come on down, we can eat and then go play in the snow." Agnes nodded, holding onto Drakes hand as he walked with her down the stairs.
"Unbelievable, she was supposed to be mine and she only cares about Drake!" Prudence whined to Hector as Drake got Agnes' coat to put on.
"You should have made sure the little girl you picked didn't have a brother with even the slightest resemblance to one of us then." Hector mocked.
"I picked her because her brother wasn't paying any attention to her, how was I to know that they were really best friends and that she would hate me..." Prudence was talking very fast and in hushed tones "if I had known, I would have picked someone else, I would have picked someone that didn't have siblings and wanted a sister I would have-"
"If you want her to like you then stop trying to be the perfect sister" Hector stated as he finished his eggs and human sausage links.
"What do you mean?" She bit out "stay warm, you want me to come with you?" Prudence called lightly to Agnes.
"No" Agnes said innocently as she grabbed Drakes hand and pulled him outside and with a wink Drake was out the door, he was what Agnes wanted but all that would change.
"Stop trying so hard Pru." Hector stated pulling her away from the door. "Just be you and she will love you. I didn't like you all that much when dad first brought you too us." Prudence glared at him. "So just give her time."
"It has been a month and I wanted a sister..." Hector rose a bushy brow "Damn you Hector I wanted a sister and now" she gestured a dirty hand out the kitchen window at Drake and Agnes having fun. The panel was broken and smears of blood had stained it red a long time ago, but still he saw them throwing snow balls and laughing. "Now she wants nothing to do with me."
Since the arrival of Agnes and Agnes's lack of interest in Prudence, Prudence took her anger out on their victim's, which meant the boy were out hunting often.
"Get me another one" she screamed, beckoning her brothers. "Get me someone to shoot at" and that's what they did. She took her crossbow and took aim. She wasn't shooting to kill, not yet at least. While Drake kept Agnes occupied Prudence let her anger reign down on those around her. "Another!" She screamed demanding another arrow, Hector obliged.
