PREVIOUSLY ON Sacrifice ═══════════════
Three years of being trapping in that god-forsaken, governmental, motherfucking system- that was enough. It was enough for Joel and Tommy to decide they'd risk their necks to get out of that damned quarantine zone.

It was winter now- harsh, cold, and unforgiving. The Pennsylvania winters were worse than the men had experienced back home but at least they could make a fire without it being extinguished by FEDRA officers.

The Millers had settled in a smaller Pennsylvanian county called New Castle. They were holed up at the top of an old apartment complex that was in an old quarantine zone. Trucks would come and go through the area and the occasional hoard of Infected would come through.

Joel looked over at Tommy who was lacing up his boots, "We gotta get outta here, Tommy. Those trucks are comin' by more frequently. Those people are searchin' more of these buildin's. It's only a matter of time before they send a group through here."

"Why can't we just go back to Texas? Huh?" Tommy yelled.
"If you wanna leave, be my guest. Lord knows I'll be able to sleep lighter not havin' to worry 'bout your ass," Joel retaliated, letting his mouth take over his mind.
Joel pushed past Tommy and they both skipped down the stairs. Just as they exited the building, the sound of the reoccurring trucks echoed through the small street.
The truck screeched to a stop just as Tommy pulled Joel into the abandoned café to their left.

They'd never killed people who weren't infected. If they were forced to do anything, they knocked the guys out- but kill them? Never. Tommy was appalled and torn. If they killed these people, what made them any better than FEDRA or the Fireflies?

He sighed before placing a hand on Tommy's shoulder. "You're gonna have to shoot 'em, Tommy."
"No, Joel, I'm not-" Tommy began to refuse before the two men walked into the cafe, guns raised.
