Prove Them Wrong

3rd POV 

Y/N's yanked into the well. His body slams into the sides before his back hits the ground. He growls when his eyes spot a horde of Apathies. They hiss when one uses its claws to slice open Y/N's chest. 

He hollers when another Apathy bites into his shoulder. Slowly the apathies pile onto him. They bite and claw through his flesh creating deep lacerations. Right when he's about to be consumed a voice is heard.

Ruby: "Get away from him!!!!"

Her eyes shine killing all the Apathies. With the threat gone Ruby throws Y/N's arm over her shoulders and carries him back to the surface. Once he's loaded on the trailer Yang revs it down the road.

Qrow: "He's cut up pretty bad."

Ruby: "Blake, mind if we use your jacket?"

Blake: "Not at all."

She takes off her jacket handing it to Ruby. She rips it apart using sections of it to tie off Y/N's wounds.

Ruby: "These won't hold, he needs medical attention as soon as possible."

The motorcycle comes to a stop making everyone look forward.

Yang: "Guys, we made it."

They all look down hill to see the city of Argus. Quickly entering they're met with JNR.

Jaune: "There you guys are."

He looks behind them to see Ruby holding up Y/N.

Jaune: "What's wrong with him?"

Weiss: "He was ambushed by Grimm. He needs serious help."

Jaune: "Follow me. I know someone who can help."

They and are led to a small two story house. 

Blake: "Why exactly are we here?"

Jaune: "My sister is the head nurse for the local hospital. If anyone can help Y/N it's her."

He knocks on the door. A couple seconds later a blonde haired girl answers.

Saphron: "Jaune, you're back. And you brought guests."

Jaune: "Listen Saph. Our friend here is in real bad shape. Think you can help fix him up?"

She takes a look at him.

Saphron: "Bring him in and set him on one of the beds upstairs."

They follow her instructions. From there she goes full nurse mode using all of her experience to help treat Y/N. An hour later she finally walks downstairs much to the relief of the others.

Ruby: "How is he?"

Saphron: "He got roughed up pretty bad. But luckily I managed to stop all the bleeding. Kinda surprised his aura didn't kick in."

Ruby: "He kinda doesn't have one."

Saphron: "Hmm. Guess that would explain the scars I saw."

Yang: "When will he be better?"

Saphron: "Hard to say. Without an aura it'll take longer to heal. But he looks pretty strong. So odds are he'll be back up and walking here before too long."

Jaune: "Thanks sis."

Saphron: "No problem, always happy to help someone in need."

*later that day*

We see Ruby sitting in a chair facing Y/N who's still out cold. She lightly rubs his hand.

Ruby: "I'm sorry you have to go through all of this Y/N. If only I was stronger. I could've kept those Grimm from getting you. I'm sorry."

There's a knock on the door. Saphron enters the room.

Saphron: "Lunch is ready. We're waiting on you."

Ruby: "You guys go ahead. I wanna stay with Y/N. Just in case he opens his eyes."

Saphron: "He's gonna be okay you know?"

Ruby: "I know. It's just..."

She sighs.

Ruby: "It's just so hard for us."

Saphron: "What do you mean?"

Ruby: "He has the power to turn into Grimm. And I have the power to kill Grimm with a simple stare. Ever since I confessed to him I knew we'd have a hard time ahead of us. Most people won't stand for this kind of romance. They'd call it unnatural. But that's only because they see Y/N as the monsters he turns into. They don't see him the way I do. I love him and he loves me. But alas people will always try to tear us apart."

Saphron places her hand on Ruby's shoulder.

Saphron: "I know how you feel."

Ruby looks at her.

Saphron: "I'm married to woman named Terra Cotta. When I came out as gay people around me would shun me for it. They'd say I was an abomination to the natural law set by Oum. They said I was never meant to find love."

Ruby: "How did you deal with it?"

Saphron: "I turned to my family. They said that no matter I chose they'd always stay by my side. They said to ignore what the world said and to always follow your heart. So I did and found my other half."

Ruby: "So what's it got to do with me?"

Saphron: "Don't listen to those who tell you who you can't love. If your true love is forbidden then show those who oppose you that they're wrong."

She offers Ruby a smile.

Saphron: "Love overcomes all obstacles."

Ruby smiles taking in her words.
