The next morning, Hermione and I were the first ones up. We both got dressed into our robes, brushed our teeth, brushed our hair, and headed down to the Great Hall. When we arrived, we saw that few people were up at the same time as us. Hermione and I sat next to one another and began to eat and talk about the day ahead.
While we were at our table, Professor McGonagall tapped our shoulders and we both turned around to face her. "Miss White, Miss Granger, these are your schedules." She told us, as she handed us each one.

"Thank you." Hermione and I said at the same time. Professor McGonagall smiled and then walked away to give the few other students who were in there, their schedules.
When we had both eaten enough to hold us over 'til lunch, we went back to our dorms and grabbed our stuff. Some of the other girls were up and getting ready. Hermione and I quickly grabbed our things and made our way to the Transfiguration classroom. We entered the room and quickly found desks next to each other. "You two are here early." I looked up and saw that Professor McGonagall was standing in the front by a chalkboard.

"Sorry, Professor, we're just so excited for class and wanted to make sure we got here on time." I told her.

"No need to apologize, Miss White." She told me. "It's better that you two are here early rather than late." Hermione and I nodded in agreement. We then sat down at our desks and got our stuff out and ready. Once we had, I began to look around her room. It was mostly empty except for the desks for students, McGonagall's desk, chalkboards, and books. Moments later, others started to file into the classroom. I noticed Draco with his ape looking friends. Soon after, the class started.

McGonagall had given us a run down of what Transfiguration was, what we would be learning, and what was expected of us. She then had us write down notes. I was about half way done with mine when I noticed that Harry and Ron were missing. Then, when I was about done with my notes, the doors burst open and in ran the two tardy boys. "Made it!" Ron said. "Can you imagine the look on old McGonagall's face if we were late?" I almost burst out laughing as Professor McGonagall jumped off of the desk as a cat and turned back into her human form right in front of the boys. "That was bloody brilliant." He told her.

"Thank you for that assessment, Mr. Weasley. Perhaps, it'd be more useful if I were to transfigure Mr. Potter and yourself into a pocket-watch. That way, one of you might be on time." McGonagall told them.

"We got lost." Harry informed her.

"Then perhaps a map? I trust you don't need one to find your seats." She told them. McGonagall then walked back up to the front of the classroom while Ron and Harry sat down in the two open desks that were left.

Once we were finished with Transfigurations, we had potions. We made our way down into the cold dungeons. The classroom itself was cold and foggy with all the potions that were being brewed. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I all found seats in the second row next to one another. Everyone was sitting in the classroom, talking, and waiting for Professor Snape to walk in. Suddenly, the door burst open and he walked in.

"There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class." He said, walking to the front of the classroom. He then turned on his heels and faced us."As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few who posses the predisposition," he began, looking at Draco. "I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper in death." Snap then studied the class before stopping and staring at Harry who was writing down what Snape had been saying. "Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confident enough to not pay attention." He said, raising his voice louder for the last four words. Since I was in between Harry and Hermione, I elbowed Harry. He looked at me and I nodded to Snape. Harry put his quill down and focused his attention on Snape. "Mr. Potter. Our new celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Snape asked. Hermione raised her hand. I myself knew the answer, but I refrained from raising my hand after seeing the look Snape gave Hermione. Harry shook his head. "You don't know?" Snape asked. "Well, let's try again. Where, Mr. Potter, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?" Hermione raised her again. I looked over at Harry and I could tell he didn't know the answer. I wanted to lean over and whisper it in his ear, but I knew Snape would notice.
