Once we made it back to the girl's bathroom, my mood declined. Floating near the entrance was Myrtle, and she had a sad look on her face. "You're alive?" She questioned, looking at Harry.
"No need to be so disappointed, Myrtle. It wasn't like he was going to spend eternity with you, anyways." I told her. Myrtle let out a loud cry and disappeared down one of the toilets.
"Is someone jealous?" Ron teased.
"Of course she is. If I were her, I would also envy anyone that didn't live in a bathroom." I said. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ron give Harry a look that was not returned.
"Where now?" Ron asked, taking the hint.
"Now we go to McGonagall's." Harry said. Ginny immediately broke down into tears.
"Ginny, what's wrong?" Ron asked.
"I'm going to be expelled! I've wanted to come to Hogwarts since Bill left for his first year. What will Mum and Dad say?!" Ginny stressed.
"Ginny, it's going to be alright." I told her, putting my hands on her shoulder. "It wasn't your fault. You weren't acting of your own accord. Once we explain everything, they'll understand. You won't be expelled, I promise." I told her. Ginny looked at me, still unsure, but nodded. "Okay, let's go." I said. Fawkes cried out and flew ahead of us. We all took this as a hint and began following him.
Fawkes flew all the way to the gargoyle statue that stood guard of the Headmaster's office. "Dumbledore must be back." Harry concluded. The statue opened for Fawkes and we all walked inside. Once we reached the top, we knocked on the door.
"Come in." We heard. We opened the door and the sight shocked me. Dumbledore wasn't alone in his office. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were standing there as well as Victoria and Professor McGonagall.
"GINNY!" Mrs. Weasley shouted. Harry, Ron, and I all jumped out of the way as Mr. and Mrs. Weasley ran forward and attacked Ginny with hugs. I quickly turned around and looked towards my aunt. She looked at me as if she didn't truly believe I was there, like I was a ghost.
"Vicky-" I stopped when I noticed how puffy and red her eyes were. "Vicky...what's going on?" I asked, blindsided with confusion. Vic rushed forward and engulfed me in a hug.
"McGonagall called us to the school. She said...you and Ginny...trapped...dead. Dumbledore just pulled us into his office and was beginning to explain when you arrived." She told me. Tears entered my eyes, thinking of the pain that must have caused her. I held her tight. "I'm so glad you're okay." She told me. I nodded.
"Me too." I told her, pulling away. "Harry was the one who fought off the basilisk and saved us." Victoria cried harder as we both looked at Harry. She then walked over and wrapped Harry in a hug.
"Thank you." She told him. "I don't know what I'd do without her."
"It was my pleasure, really." Harry told her, the two pulling out of the hug. "I'm not sure where I'd be without her, either." He said, looking at me. A blush crept to my cheeks.
"Ron helped too." I mentioned, not wanting to leave my other friend out. Victoria smiled at him.
"Thank you." She told him. Ron nodded.
"Yeah, I mean, what else are friends for besides rescuing you from random chambers underneath schools?" Ron joked. I looked over at him and we both shared a smile.
"Mr. Weasley, what do you have there?" I heard Professor McGonagall ask. Everyone looked over at Ron who was holding the diary and sword.
"Oh, right." Harry said. He then explained the story to everyone, Ron and I adding in bits and pieces that he missed or hadn't been there for. Once Harry got to the end, the three of us looked at each other. There were a lot of holes in the story because none of us had said a thing about Ginny. One look at her was enough to deter us from doing so. She was holding onto her mum, sobbing, looking at us with pleading eyes.
