The next night, our detention took place. The five of us; Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, and I were all headed down to the grounds, Filch leading the way. "A pity they let the old punishments die. There was a time detention would find you hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons. God I miss the screaming." All of us had looks of concern on our faces.

We walked until we reached Hagrid's hut. When we got there, Hagrid opened the door to his hut and walked out, Fang following behind. "You'll be serving detention with Hagrid tonight. He's got a little job to do inside the Dark Forest." Filch told us. My mood improved slightly at hearing that Hagrid would be with us. "A sorry lot, this, Hagrid." Filch told him. Hagrid sniffed while looking down. "Oh good God, man, you're not still on about that bloody dragon, are you?" Hagrid sniffed again while picking up his crossbow and putting it under his arm.

"Norbert's gone. Dumbledore sent him off to Romania to live in a colony." Hagrid told us.

"Well, that's good, isn't it?" Hermione asked.

"He'll be with his own kind." I added.

"Yeah, but what if he don't like Romania? What if the other dragons are mean to him? He's only a baby, after all." Hagrid told us.

"Oh, for God's sake, pull yourself together, man. You're going into the Forest, after all. Got to have your wits about you." Filch told him.

"The Forest? I thought that was a joke. We can't go in there." Draco said. I rolled my eyes. "Students aren't allowed. And there are..." The sound of a wolf howling could be heard from the Forest. "...werewolves." Draco finished.

"Ah, there's more than werewolves in those trees, lad. You can be sure of that." Filch told him. "Nighty-night." Filch then began to walk back towards the castle.

"Right. Let's go." Hagrid said. The five of us began following him and Fang into the Forest.

We got pretty deep into the Forest, walking farther than I thought we would, when Hagrid set his lantern down and kneeled onto the ground. He dipped his fingers into a puddle of a dark, thick substance, bringing it up to study closer.

"Hagrid, what is that?" Harry asked as Hagrid stood up.

"What we're here for." Hagrid told him. "See that?" He asked, showing us his hand. "That's unicorn blood, that is. I found one dead a few weeks ago. And, this one's been hurt bad by somethin'. So, it's our job to go and find the poor beast. Ron, Hermione, you'll come with me."

"Okay." Ron said in a small voice.

"And, Harry, Emily, you'll go with Malfoy." Hagrid told us. I tried my best to hide my annoyance at having to go with Draco.

"Okay. Then I get Fang." Draco said.

"Fine." Hagrid agreed. "Just so you know, he's a bloody coward." Fang began to whine.

Hagrid handed Draco a lantern and then sent us on our way. I stood between the two boys while Fang walked behind us. "You wait till my father hears about this. This is servant's stuff."

"If I didn't know better, Draco, I'd say you were scared." Harry told him.

"Scared, Potter?!"

"Yes, Draco, scared. It's the feeling you get when you're frightened by something." Draco sent a glare my way. A loud noise from a creature then came from a bit behind us. Draco whipped around.

"Did you hear that?" He asked us. I bit the inside of my cheek, trying not to laugh. "Come on, Fang." Draco said, walking forward. "Scared." I heard him muttering under his breath. Harry and I looked at one another, amused smiles on our faces.
