The boys slid down what seemed to be tunnels, yelling all the way. When they reached the bottom, they landed on sharp and rough objects that made a loud 'crunch'. The two boys quickly stood up and pointed their wands at Lockhart. Ron took a second to look down at what they were standing on.

"Ugh." He said. Harry then looked down, seeing all the rat and mouse bones.

"Now remember: Any sign of movement, close your eyes straight away." Harry told them. He then jumped up to the next tunnel.

"Go on." Ron told Lockhart, making him go between him and Harry. Harry then came to an opening and saw three different ways to go. In one of them, there was a pile of something inside.

"This way." He told the other two, walking towards it. The three of them walked closer to it.

"What's this?" Ron asked.

"It looks like a...snake." Lockhart said.

"It's a snakeskin." Harry told them, following it halfway down the tunnel.

"Bloody hell." Ron said. "Whatever shed this must be sixty feet long. Or more." He turned towards Lockhart just in time to see him faint. Harry heard the sound of Lockhart hitting the ground and turned to look over at Ron. "Heart of a lion, this one." Ron commented. Lockhart then sprung up, grabbing Ron's wand out of his hand, pointing it at Harry.

"The adventure ends here, boys. But don't fret. The world will know our story. How I was too late to save the girls. How you two tragically lost your minds at the sight of their mangled bodies. So, you first, Mr. Potter. Say goodbye to your memories." Lockhart told them. "Obliviate!" Ron's broken wand caused the spell to backfire, launching Lockhart back and into the wall of the cave. Lockhart hit the ground, seemingly knocked out. A second later, the cave began to shake and parts of it began to collapse, the rubble falling between Harry and Ron. Harry had to dive out of the way to avoid being crushed. Ron backed up almost to the entrance of tunnel. Once everything settled, Ron began coughing from all the dirt that gathered in the air.

"Harry?" He called out. "Harry?"

"Ron! Ron, are you okay?!" Harry shouted, running towards the pile of rocks between them. There was a small space at the top where the boys could see one another.

"I'm fine." Ron told him. Lockhart then sat up with a grunt, catching the attention of the other two.

"Hello." He said, looking up at Ron. "Who are you?"

"Um, Ron Weasley." Ron told him.

"Really? And, uh, who-who am I?" Lockhart asked.

"Lockhart's Memory Charm backfired! He hasn't got a clue who he is!" Ron shouted to Harry.

"It's an odd sort of place, isn't?" Lockhart wondered, picking up a small piece of rock, flipping it up in the air before catching it. "Do you live here?" He asked Ron. Ron took the rock from his hand.

"No." He told him.

"Really? Well-" Ron then hit Lockhart in the back of the head, knocking him out.

"What do I do now?" Ron asked Harry.

"You wait here and try to shift some of these rocks so we can get back through. I'll go on and find Emily and Ginny." Harry told him.

"Okay." Ron said. Harry then backed away from the pile of rocks and began walking farther down the tunnel.
He only had to take a few steps before he was met with a round door. There were seven stone snakes that covered it. Harry once again closed his eyes and tried to imagine that they were real.
