Yinhwa's POV
A Week Later
In the late afternoon, following Wei Wuxian's instructions, I made my way to The Burial Mounds. A group of Dead Corpses intercepted me before I could step inside.
"Would you kind people let me through? I come in peace. I just want to meet your less-than-grateful master," I asked, and with some hesitation, they allowed me to pass.
"I didn't realize corpses had a mind of their own," I thought as I navigated the eerie and shadowy woods. After a bit of walking, I encountered a gathering of Wen Clan members, engaged in constructing structures.
The moment they noticed me, fear flickered across their faces. 'Why are they afraid? I thought the impact of my intimidating demeanor had faded?'
"Oh well," I muttered to myself.
"I've brought food," I announced, hoisting a sack bursting with fresh fruits and vegetables. "Who's hungry?" I offered.
A person approached, embracing me tightly. "Yinhwaaa," It was Wen Qing. "You catch," I directed to a man, tossing the bag to him, which he skillfully caught.
I reciprocated the hug with Wen Qing. "How have you been?" I asked. She chuckled, "Life's been a bitch," she replied, and I chuckled as I released her from the embrace.
"Where's that scoundrel?" I asked, and she chuckled, "He's inside," she replied, causing me to prepare to enter, but she halted me.
"Yinhwa, thank you," she expressed, and I scowled. "I didn't even do anything," I said, shaking my head, and proceeded into the cave.
"Ugh, this place smells awful," I muttered to myself. "SHIJIE!" Wei Wuxian exclaimed, startled from a bad dream. I strode over and gave him a solid kick.
"Who are you calling Shijie?! It's Yinhwa," I corrected him. He glanced at me and instantly enveloped me in a hug, causing both of us to tumble, with Wei Wuxian ending up on top.
"How did you get in?" He asked, to which I smirked. "I politely asked, and they kindly let me in," I replied, to his evident surprise.
"The dead corpses allowed you entry just like that?" he questioned, and I affirmed. "You came," He stated a bit shaken up.
"Yeah, I did. You told me to," I replied, and he embraced me tighter. I patted his back. "How could I let my partner in crime create trouble all by himself?" I remarked.
"Yinhw~~~" He whined. I comfortingly patted his back, sensing the tears soaking my shoulder. "Don't worry, I'll always have your back. You can count on me,"
"Wei Wuxian! Hey, Wei Wuxian!" Wen Qing called out as she entered the cave. Wei Wuxian swiftly rose and wiped his eyes clean.
"Here, catch. Why didn't you respond?" She asked, tossing an apple at him, which he caught effortlessly.
"Where did you get this?" Wei Wuxian inquired, and Wen Qing pointed towards me, still lying on the ground. "You?" He questioned.
"Yeah, I anticipated you'd be in this state," I replied, gazing at the ceiling.
"Get up, isn't the ground dirty?" Wei Wuxian suggested while munching on his apple. I rose, brushing the dirt off my clothes. 'This is the grimiest place I've ever encountered.'
"Who's that?" I asked, gesturing toward the figure lying on a rock, covered in blood-drawn talismans. Qing offered a solemn smile, and it dawned on me.
"I'm sorry about him," I expressed, to which she shook her head. "Is he... deceased?" I asked warily, and Wei Wuxian nodded. "I turned him into a puppet, but he's too powerful."
