Yinhwa's Pov
As we tracked down the prowler within the Rock House, to our surprise, the one strutting around was none other than our own head shaker, Nie Huaisang.
We escorted him to an inn and split up to search for Wei Wuxian. Accompanied by Fairy, who I set off, only to unexpectedly run into Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling.
"Ah, just what I needed," I mused sarcastically as Jiang Cheng began to glare at us.
......
......
None of them spoke, nor did they utter a single word. Sensing the tension, I patted Wangji's shoulder. "Go on without me." I received a slight nod from him before he departed.
"Why are you glaring at me? Drop it already" I questioned Jiang Cheng, but he merely scoffed.
"What brings both you and Lan Wangji here? Since when did you two start night-hunting together?" He asked, a hint of disdain in his voice.
"Just a chance encounter," I lied, noticing Jin Ling's shock at my deception and I winked at him.
"And where were you? I scolded you briefly, and you bolted! Look at you, temper like a hot-headed lady," Jiang Cheng scolded Jin Ling.
"I made it back in one piece, what's the issue? Will you quit lecturing me?" Jin Ling replied carelessly. "In one piece? Look at yourself, you're a mess," Jiang Cheng pointed out.
'No matter how many years pass, their bickering never gets old,' I thought to myself. "Anyway, who did you encounter today?" Jiang Cheng asked, his gaze shifting to Jin Ling, who then glanced at me.
I shook my head, signaling Jin Ling not to tell about Wei Wuxian or Lan Wangji, who nodded understanding. "I told you, I didn't meet anyone. It was a fruitless trip,"
Jin Ling then attempted to dash away, but Jiang Cheng swiftly apprehended him. 'I don't understand why he tries to escape knowing he'll get caught,'
"Let me go I'm not a 3 year old toddler," Jin Ling struggled.
"Regardless of being 3 or 30, I'll still discipline you. If you run off again, you'll feel my whip," Jiang Cheng warned sternly.
"I went alone because I didn't want any assistance," Jin Ling muttered. "Where's your dog, then?" He inquired, glancing around. "He was here a moment ago," I replied.
Suddenly, Fairy's bark echoed, and a figure came rushing toward us, revealed to be none other than Wei Wuxian.
Attempting to evade, Wei Wuxian was halted by Jiang Cheng's Zidian coiling around his leg, causing him to stumble.
"Will you remove your mask yourself, or do you fancy another taste of Zidian?" Jiang Cheng demanded. With a click of his tongue, Wei Wuxian reluctantly removed his mask.
We then gathered inside an inn. The three of us occupied a room, where Wei Wuxian sat in a corner, hesitant to move, especially with Fairy stationed in front of him.
I poured two cups of wine for Jiang Cheng and myself. He picked up his cup, pondered for a moment, and then discarded it. 'If you're not going to drink it, pass it over. Why waste it?'
"Do you have anything to say?" Jiang Cheng asked. "I'm at a loss for words, I really don't know what to say." Wei Wuxian replied.
"You truly don't understand remorse!" Jiang Cheng criticized. "It's you who never changed!" Wei Wuxian scoffed, prompting Jiang Cheng to rise to his feet.
"Oh really?! Let's see who hasn't progressed," He gestured the dog to go near him and it did.
"SHIJIE!" Wei Wuxian screamed, visibly terrified. "Fairy, come back," I intervened, calling Fairy back to my side. "How dare you mention her name in my presence."
