Yinhwa's Pov
Before we could react, Jin Guangyao seized Jin Ling, holding a guqin string against his neck. "Wei Wuxian, didn't you confiscate all his weapons?!" Jiang Cheng asked.
"I took all his Guqin strings. Unless Jin Guangyao has the power to materialize things out of thin air," Wei Wuxian responded. "He hid it inside his body," Lan Wangji revealed.
"A-Ling!" Jiang Cheng called out as Jin Guangyao tugged the strings harder, causing a slight trickle of blood.
"Clan Leader Jiang, no need to be so agitated. I watched him grow up, after all. You'll see him unharmed once we part ways."
"If you're taking a hostage, take me," Jiang Cheng offered. "I can't. You're injured and will slow me down." He replied. "Aren't you forgetting your loyal servant?" Wei Wuxian reminded him.
"Clan Leader, don't worry about me," Su She interjected, and Jin Guangyao gave a slight nod. "Thank you," l
The temple doors began to thump and bang, culminating in a forceful opening, revealing a black figure.
He glided in and positioned himself before us. "Wen Ning?" Wei Wuxian questioned. "Young Master Wei..." Wen Ning began hesitantly.
"Da-Ge," Nie Huaisang called out, drawing our attention to another figure that had followed Wen Ning and advanced toward us.
The figure stood tall, yet his eyes appeared lifeless, void of expression. The words I tried to speak caught in my throat, leaving it dry. 'Ah-Jue...'
His neck and the headless body were somehow sewn together. "Da-Ge," Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao uttered in unison, one with anguish and the other with fear.
Lan Wangji seized the opportunity and unsheathed his sword, swiftly severing Jin Guangyao's hand that held the Guqin string. Jin Guangyao yelped and fell backward.
With Jin Ling finally out of danger, Jiang Cheng was about to rush to check on him, but Wei Wuxian moved faster, examining him for any injuries.
Satisfied that Jin Ling was unharmed, Wei Wuxian pulled him into a tight embrace. "Stay away from dangerous people next time, you brat! Why did you stand so close to him?" Wei Wuxian scolded.
Jin Ling, unaccustomed to being hugged by anyone other than me, tried to push Wei Wuxian away but failed.
Then Wei Wuxian resorted to a hard slap on his shoulder before shoving himself towards Jiang Cheng. "Don't run, Jin Ling. Go to your uncle,"
"Thank you," Jiang Cheng whispered to Lan Wangji, who nodded. Nie Mingjue had arrived at the doorway, while Wen Ning stepped forward to face him.
"Be cautious. His resentful energy is exceptionally powerful," I warned, and Wen Ning nodded before engaging in a fierce confrontation. Unfortunately, he was overpowered and thrown out.
Nie Mingjue advanced toward Jin Guangyao, frozen in place. Su She rose to confront him, already battered, only to be defeated by a single punch from Nie Mingjue.
"Brother, I-I-I... I'm..." Huaisang stuttered fearfully behind Lan Xichen. Nie Mingjue charged at them. Lan Xichen swiftly drew his flute and played, freezing the scene.
"Da-Ge, it's me, Huaisang! He doesn't recognize me..." Huaisang's voice trembled, nearly on the verge of tears. "He can't recognize you and can't even recognize himself," Wei Wuxian replied.
"He's essentially a puppet controlled by overwhelming resentful energy," I added.
Even Lan Xichen struggled to hold him back for a long time. Nie Mingjue turned and strode purposefully toward Jin Guangyao.
