Yinhwa's Pov

It was late at night and I couldn't sleep so I sneaked out. I heard someone sniffling and see Huaisang leaning on a pillar. I went and sat next to him.

"What happened?" I asked. "Big Bro scolded me." He said and I chuckled. "That's all? My brother hits me." I said and he looked at me with tear filled eyes.

I sat with Huaisang in the quiet of the night, comforting him. He explained that his big brother had scolded him, and I tried to console him by sharing that my brother could be strict too.

Huaisang was overwhelmed with emotions and exclaimed, "Why are big brothers so demanding?" I couldn't help but laugh.

"Don't laugh," He said, tears streaming down his face. I wiped his tears away and reminded him that his brother cared deeply for him, even if he showed it in a strict way.

"You have it easy since your brother is so lenient on you," Huaisang remarked, and I burst into laughter again.

"Lenient? Who? My brother? Don't let his kind face mislead you. He's a sly fox on the inside," I told him.

Huaisang's tearful eyes brightened as he settled onto my lap. "Yinhwa..." he called softly. "What is it?" I asked my tone a bit gentle than usual.

"Sing for me," He requested. "Sing, what?" I asked him which song he wanted, and he replied, "Máng Zhòng." So, I sang the song to comfort him in the stillness of the night.

After singing the song, Huaisang drifted to sleep in my lap. Suddenly, I felt a cold touch on my neck as blood trickled down. I chuckled softly to a harsh voice. "Aren't you scared?"

"Of death? Yes. Of you? No," I replied confidently.

"Why?" He asked.

I held up Nie Mingjue's saber that had touched my neck and looked back at him, standing behind me. "Trust me, Chifeng-Zun, The only person who scares me to death is my brother,"

He sighed and questioned how I knew the song.

"Huaisang sang it for me when I was in Gusu. And later, he taught it to me," I explained. Nie Mingjue sighed, sheathed his saber, and sat down beside me.

"So you angry? I won't sing if you don't want me to." I wiped the blood from my hand and neck using a kerchief and began to heal myself.

"Forgive me. I was just... I don't know what happened to me," he apologized.
"Is the song your family heirloom or something?" I asked as I continued to pat Huaisang, who was now sleeping peacefully on my lap.

"It was his mother's. She used to sing it to us before we went to sleep," He replied, and I nod. "So, both of you have different mothers?" I asked, and he nods.

"Ugh!! Hmmpm!" I felt a whimper from Huaisang, who turned around and hugged my waist. I was surprised at first but then patted him gently as he snored lightly.

"Huaisang was crying. What did you say to him anyway?" I questioned Nie Mingjue, who sat silently for a few moments before admitting.

"Okay, it's my fault!! I was a bit rash! I took my frustration out on him!! There, are you happy now?" My eyes widen at how harsh his tone was.

"Clan Leader Nie, you must be very tired, not to mention you've been working without sleep. You should really get some rest. Please go and rest," I yelled back at him.
