He was having a good day. A great day even! He'd gotten to make fun of James earlier, he'd pranked Snape on the way to class, and McGonagall gave him an O for basically doing nothing.
Yet, here he stood, so close to a perfect day, if only he hadn't opened the damn door.
"What the fuck?!" He yelled; the door he'd come in from slamming shut behind him.
This was not happening. It couldn't be. James fucking Potter was snogging Remus Lupin. His Remus Lupin.
The two men- guilty men- pulled apart looking over at Sirius with wide eyes.
"Sirius-" Remus started, his mouth closing as he quite pathetically realized he had no excuse.
James lifted a hand to his lips, thoughts running wild. 'What does this mean? What do I want it to mean?'
Sirius turned around running down the stairs.
"Shit," Remus muttered hurrying after him.
James looked over at the door hurrying after them, "Sirius- Sirius please." He tried as they followed him into the common room.
In the flash of an eye, Sirius' fist crashed against James' jaw with a loud crack.
Gasps spread throughout the room.
"Sirius!" Remus and Lily yelled, Marlene hurrying to James' side.
James stumbled back, his hand coming up to cradle his jaw as he spat out blood, "Okay, I... I deserve that." He said, voice hoarse.
He looked back giving Marlene a small nod to let her know he was okay before stepping back to his position.
Sirius scoffed hand clenching in pain before sending another punch at James.
"Godric!" Marlene yelled hurrying behind James again catching him before he could stumble to the ground.
"Okay, you know what, no. I didn't deserve that! I did nothing wrong!" James snapped turning to face Sirius.
Seeing Sirius' hand form another fist he hit first trying to knock him off his feet so he would shut up and listen.
Lily and Remus both jumped in between them without a second thought drawing their wands at the two.
Wand tip glowing red she pushed it closer to Sirius to get him to back away, "What the hell is going on here?" She asked, voice demanding yet calm.
"He's a fucking whore is what happened!" Sirius yelled.
"Oh please." She scoffed, "So he's seeing your brother. He's your best mate."
James paled as Sirius looked back at him, eyes blazing.
"What. The hell. Does that mean?" Sirius whispered looking back at Lily.
Marlene's eyebrows shot up, "You're what?!"
Lily blinked, wand slipping slightly, "That's not what this is about?" She asked.
"No, he had his tongue down Remus' throat!" Sirius yelled pointing accusingly at him, "What the hell are you doing with my brother?!"
Remus closed his eyes taking a deep breath as he tried to figure out what to say.
Mary's mouth dropped, "You're dating?" She whispered.
James scoffed ignoring Mary, "Oh please he's barely your brother!"
"Traitor!"
"I'm a traitor?! I'm not doing anything; she's exaggerating!" James yelled, "He's helping me with quidditch."
