After being kicked out of McGonagall's classroom they headed to the Slytherin's common room, James' master plan being to turn into Prongs and prance right on in after him.
"I am not walking in with a moose."
"For starters, I'm not a moose-"
"I'm not walking in with a bloody forest animal!"
"Well I can't just walk in as me."
"Why not?"
"Because I care about you too much to have everyone start questioning what you're doing with me." James sighed grabbing his hands, running his thumbs over his rings, "How about you go on in and get all nice and pretty on your bed and I'll follow in twenty-eight seconds?"
Regulus nodded dumbfounded, staring up at James' face as his hands were brought up and kissed, "Yeah I can- I can do that." He whispered, mouth going dry.
James smiled against his knuckles slowly setting his hands down, "Wonderful."
"You're sure you've never done this before?"
"Yeah. Why?" He chuckled.
Regulus just shook his head, "No reason." He gulped walking into the common room.
Exactly twenty-eight seconds passed and he had to keep himself from running into the common room. He slipped in, walking by the wall to try not to draw attention to himself before hurrying up the stairs and to the room with a stupid grin.
It took him a few seconds to stop staring and actually walk in, closing the door behind him. He went to sit down on the bed before quickly changing to sit in a chair still close by.
Regulus frowned, "Should I move?"
"No. It's your room. Your bed."
"I figured you'd sit here with me. If you're uncomfortable, Potter, I can move, I don't mind." He assured already standing up.
"Please just sit down. Regulus it's not a big deal. I swear." James panicked, making to stand up but grabbing onto the arms of the chair to stay put.
"My friends and I have made you uncomfortable enough these past few days, Potter. Just let me-"
"I wouldn't have told you to sit on the bed if I wasn't comfortable with it!" James cut him off, "Please just sit down."
Regulus nodded sitting back down, "Sorry. I just figured... well you normally sit on the bed."
"Before we were dating."
"And that changes things?"
James rolled his eyes, "Yeah kind of. I don't have that instinctive not to jump your bones anymore."
"Jump my bones..." Regulus repeated slowly, drawing out each word.
"Yes. Jump your bones."
Regulus nodded still confused about what was going on, "Is that what you wanted to talk about?"
"N- no. More about how I don't want to jump your bones."
His jaw tightened, "If you're about to insult me I suggest you leave."
"No that's not-! Fuck I didn't mean it like- I want to I just don't want to want to."
"Are we still talking in English or is there a James Potter Dictionary I should pick up from the shoppe?"
James scowled, "I'm trying."
"Try harder than you're freaking me the hell out!" Regulus snapped.
"Okay, you don't have to yell," James grumbled.
