"uhh hi." she replies.
i can feel people staring at me. "Can i sit here? With yous?" She asks quietly.

"Yeah sure. We were just planning on going to parade day. You're free to tag along." Will says.

"Ok thanks. What time?"

"Aren't you meant to be some super freaky introvert?" Aubrey says. The amount of toxicity could've made a nuclear power plant.

"I suppose if thats how you perceive me. I mean people see the worst in others when they are really just picking out their own faults." Vic responds.

Theres an 'ooooo' from the guys. Except Adam.

"Leave her alone. Cya about 10 tomorrow." He says before leaving with Aubrey.

"That was awesome." I say.

"I guess. But for someone with such speed you would think shed have a quicker response." Vic says back.

"Whats that mean?" I ask.

"This is awkward." Ash says making it worse.

"Uhh nothing. Just a joke." Vic replies acting like she's been apart of the group since forever.

I get over it.  Quickly joining in the new conversation about which superhero is hotter. Ash started it with tom Holland's spider man. You can guess where that went.

A few hours had passed and we were still at the table talking.
"Why don't we go back to our dorm, these chairs are killing me." Will says to me.

I look ar him blankly for a moment trying to fill myself in on what is happening "Sure."

"Yous can come too. If u want. I have Mario cart ready." Will added talking to the rest. "You too Vic."

"Oh. Uhh thanks, but i have to uhh... go somewhere to uhh.. do something." She stutters.

"Can i come with ya aswell?" I ask.

"No." She replies too quickly and sharp it stabs me. Was i just rejected? It stings like mad.

"Cool. Ill cya around." I say. Before heading off in the other direction trying to catch up with the others. Who had left me. Trying to not overthink the rejection.

Once i caught up with them the game was already on. "What took you?" Will asks.

"You fucking left me." They just laugh. At me like its some lane ass joke. "Whatever ima finish that weird ass book."

"Ok cya." Somebody replies. I don't care to look back to see which idiot said it.

With that i walk back to the bedroom and start a new chapter. The history bit was over and now the weirder shit.

Yes. They are real. If you are wondering how i know. You have to trust me. I know they will be as dangerous as the other.
The legend has been lost for centuries but in my school i will make it known again.

So what i know is:

'The mortem pair will each be gifted like life and death both opposites but rely on the other to survive.
Both dangerous and violent. The pair will face a battle of dominance. They will only be able to fully understand their powers once the ritual is completed under a lunar eclipse.
Once they understand theb can they create new life, destroy and build new empires. Their desires will be granted.
And no one can stop them. If one dies the other should do so as-well.
But if they fall in love the fate of the universe is unclear. Their feelings could break and destroy everything we know. Or if it is pure they can help it and pritect the living, and dead. That is why. It is unwise for them to meet, the odds are never in our favour when it comes to gifts.

Yet our civilisation relies on their presence. As dangerous as it might be.'

One of the mortem pair will also not know what we know. But learn from the other. I know this because one is in my blood. And my power to see the future showed me this. His name will be. Jake.
The other name is unclear yet jake will grow fond if this young woman but she will remain distant. "

What a load of shit. This must be some sort of crappy joke. I ain't falling for it no more.

I leave my bedroom and see the rest of my friends on the sofas. Still playing mario cart. By the clock on the wall I've been reading for 2 hours.
"Hey. We were just going to get you for lunch. You coming?" Ash asks.

"He will be. for Vic." Adam laughs. Aubrey laughs whilst clinging to Adam.

"Please tell me this book is some sorta shit practical joke!!" I yell.

"No. But you.." max starts.

"Im what???"

"Look in a mirror." He replies his whole body trembling."

I stop yelling and go to the bathroom and look in the small mirror above the sink.

My fucking eyes were a bright orange.
