The ride to the train was full of our escort talking while I ignored his words on how wonderful the train was. I watched as the building and fences passed as our little go cart approached the silver train. The ride would take a few days and I planned to spend every moment studying those that were reaped. I would have an advantage because everyone would underestimate me. I was coming from a career district where people volunteer. I was chosen and not volunteered for. I more than likely looked like the scared 13 year old girl I am. Soon I will be 14. 7 more days, I will be 14. 7 more days and I will be thrown into an arena with 23 others, to fight to the death. 23 others who I will not align myself with. The moment the cart stopped. I jumped off followed by our escort and Boris. I climbed the ramp with no fear in my eyes and was immediately greeted by Ebinora. She gave me a quick hug. I knew that she felt my family's pain as she just gave birth to a little girl not too long ago. She was unable to attend last years game due to her pregnancy. Brutus didn't show love like Ebinora, just simply gestured for me to sit by Borris. Ebinora and Brutus followed, sitting across from us.
"As this is unexpected we still have two strong tributes in front of us. Kit, I know you are not ready yet but you will need to be and fast."
I forced a smile and nodded.
"Good, you two I want you to forget everything you know. The games are different from training. You will have an advantage over the other kids that are entering. District One will automatically be allies with you two no worries there."
I held my hand up to stop Brutus. He raised a blond brow and nodded to me.
"What if you don't want allies?"
Both Brutus and Ebinora looked shocked before exchanging a look.
"Kit, you have to understand you are at a disadvantage here. Look at your tribute partner here. If you two were to face off, he would win. He has had longer training and is much bigger and stronger than you."
I looked Ebinora in the eyes before leaning in so I made sure to get my point across.
"No allies, All they are going to do is drag me down. If I want a shot at winning I need to do what I do best."
Boris started laughing beside me. His voice was low and haunting which only made me smirk. He thought he could scare me.
"Kit, you are lucky to get me as an ally, you by yourself wont even survive the blood bath."
I looked over at him and then at Brutus who had his arms crossed.
"I am sorry to say it, kid but he is right."
I lowered my smile and dropped the fake I am so kind face and looked at my mentor that was currently having his arms crossed.
"I think you will be surprised to find out what I can do. I already have the upper hand as everyone will underestimate me, just as you all are now."
I leaned back in my seat satisfied with the look of shock on all their faces.
"Like I said, no allies."
With that I got up and walked away. I wanted to find my room and take this damn dress off. I also wanted to get out of the room with the two male pitbulls that lowered the room's IQ by every hour. I know that Brutus and Ebinora have watched us fight but there is no point in allowing connections to happen. All that does is cause hesitations in a life and death situation. It doesn't do anyone any good. I finally found the room I was looking for and when I opened it, It was much like the lounge. Over exaggerate to remind the districts that the capital was the one in power. One wall was a scenery of forests, the others were all blank steel gray. There was a large bed in the middle of the room with a deep green comforter. A small closet full of clothes was along one wall while the other had a small room to shower and use the restroom. I smiled and walked down flopping down on the giant bed. It was like falling on a cloud. I signed happily and reached up, un-pinning my hair and unting it from the french braid I put in that morning. My golden locks fell down in waves around me. I smiled to myself. A knock came to the door before it slid open with a woosh. Ebinora walked in and took a seat next to where I was laying.
