ESTELLA WALKED THROUGH THE WOODS following Carlisle. She had her fingers entwined around his as he dragged her through the trees. Her gaze was on the sky, the birds flying above the branches, the clouds dancing grey way above their heads.

It had been a week since the day in the rain. Things had been strange to say the least. Este had been staying at the Cullens house but she still didn't feel very welcome. They were doing their best, except Edward.

Estella couldn't remember having a home. Even back when she'd been human, her grand Manor House had felt disconnected from her. Este had always been removed from the wealth around her. Her fathers disappointment shadowed the walls and after her mother's death there was nothing that felt right in that house anymore.

Este could imagine that it was difficult for the Cullens to see a stranger walking in the place that they called home. Especially a stranger who walked around with the threat of danger looming over her head. Este was trying her best to get to know them, to ensure they felt safe but even with her charm this wasn't an easy task.

For Alice, she'd been welcomed as soon as she'd walked into the party. Alice was a joy to be around, she acted as though she had known Este for years. She found it very refreshing. Este was already feeling protective over Alice even though the young vampire could definitely take care of herself.

Somehow in the first few days of Estella's stay, Alice had already provided her with her own personal wardrobe. The skills behind this girl were incredible. At first, Este had hated the idea that Alice had spent all this money on her (even if the Cullens were undeniably rich) however when Alice told her she'd have to get used to that and started walking her through all her fashion choices, Este couldn't deny that this made her overjoyed.

She'd been going around stealing clothes for decades. Este never really paid attention to the colours or the fit. She'd never looked very fashionable, more like a ragged attempt at a rock guitarist. Now Alice had brought back a memory of feeling good. Este recalled back in the 19th century she could get fitted for all her dresses, be adorned with pearls and beads. It had felt rewarding to go to balls dressed as a princess.

Of course, the clothes that Alice had picked out weren't ball gowns or pearls but they were fashionable for the 1990s, something that Este hadn't become accustomed to yet. She'd been slightly overwhelmed with all the choices even if the furthest she had gone thus far was a walk around Aspen town centre. It just felt nice and it was even better knowing she had Alice on her side.

Este presumed that Jasper was only as welcoming as he was because of Alice. He smiled and made polite conversation but only for a few minutes at most. He never lingered. In fact, out of all of the Cullens Este probably saw him the least. He was usually with Alice, standing behind her as she talked animatedly. They were an odd pair but nice nevertheless.
