Present Day
"No, no, no!" Cordelia shouted at the mechanical droid working on the ship in the middle of her courtyard.
"You put that there and you'll blow the pilot into hyperspace all while leaving his plane behind."
It responded with a series of defensive beeps, as though she could keep up with how quickly he was responding.
"I don't want excuses. It goes there! No, there. Yes, no, yes, right there." Cordelia groaned as the small droid did in fact place the part in its grip in the correct place. Sighing, she squeezed the bridge of her nose.
The last thing she needed was another mess up on a commissioned craft. She wasn't incredibly fond of using the smaller droids like this one, their build so small they hardly had the space for the proper malware to function beyond the most basic tasks, but she worked with what she could afford and get her hands on this far from the inner rim.
Her home wasn't luxurious, but it kept her and her son fed and without much worry of where their next meal would come from. Cordelia wouldn't count herself among the best engineers in the galaxy, but on Bakura she most certainly was. Inhabited by mostly technophobes, she was the one they came to for any fixes, big or small.
As though her thoughts had summoned him, Valour sprinted from the hanger into the courtyard, his small seeker droid zooming after him as quickly as its single wheel could take it.
"Valour! No running around the ship, please!" She called as he ducked under the wing of the craft, laughing joyously.
Eight years old and already looking as though he would be overtaking her in height in another few years. His black hair fell to his shoulders in thick waves, it streamed behind him now like a flag as he ran.
"Sorry mom!" He called back, disappearing back into the hanger and slipping from sight.
Shaking her head, Cordelia went back to the main panel of the small craft and began fine tuning its wiring. If there was something that stressed her above all else, it was poorly maintained an organization of wiring, especially in a craft.
Valour's laughter drew her attention, and she sighed, stepping back from the craft and hitting the shutdown on the mechanical droids before heading to her yard where her son was playing.
As she turned the corner to where her yard opened up into a large field butting up to a jungle filled with thick trucked trees, Valour was standing within the centre, his arm outstretched towards his droid, which hovered six feet above the ground, squealing in protest.
"Valour!" Cordelia shouted, terror turning her words into a snarl as she quickly crossed the distance between them.
Seeing her look, Valour dropped the droid and stepped back, clasping his hands behind his back.
"What have I told you about doing that?!" She hated raising her voice, hated talking to him in this way, but her fear ruled her now.
"I'm sorry, Mom, I just wanted to show D-8 what I could do." He said, looking to where his feet were tangled in the long grass.
Cordelia sighed, knowing it was impossible for to control a little body from using the powers she had no clue about. Still, ever since the rebel alliance was decimated on Exegol over a year ago, the thought of someone seeing her son's gifts and turning him over to The Order was ever present.
