My parents house was about thirty minutes away from our pack house. I was just glad we had somewhere to go. My dad had this bunker built when I was younger to protect us from anything. The door was camouflaged into the wall in the hallway of the house. To get in you would have to crawl to the other side then jump down, and you're there.
I actually loved the bunker. It was big enough to have a whole community inside. I used to play in there all the time. I remember being a princess and having tea parties with my dad. I could tell he didn't want to play with me, but he did anyway. I love him for that.
We ran all the way to my parents house. I haven't seen them in a while, and I knew they aren't expecting us to be here right now. For all I know, they could be out on a vacation or something. My mother always got on me for not calling ahead of time. She didn't like it when I just showed up. But this was an emergency, I didn't have time to call. We all had to make a move.
I could see my old house on the street ahead. It was still as beautiful as the day I left it. I can't believe it. I would've thought that my mom would've hired some people to come upgrade a little bit. But my mom and dad must have loved it so much that they wanted to keep it.
I saw a short figure standing in the driveway at their car. As I got closer, I could smell the scent that rang in my nose for years. The same scent after five years since I moved out. My mother would always use the same perfume. Cocoanut. Over time, it actually has become one of my favorite fragrances.
I saw my mom turn around and drop her groceries. She had an awe look on her face, almost like she was scared that she was going to get eaten by some werewolves today. I don't know why she would be scared though. She has been married to a werewolf for about thirty, forty years? And besides, the Gray Moon pack isn't the type to just go around eating people.
Still in my wolf form, I walked over to my mom slowly and licked her shoes. I was trying to show her that I was Karsen. Hopefully she understood what I was doing. After a while, I got the feeling that she knew who I was because she leaned down and gave me a hug.
"Oh, you need a towel huh?" My mom asked. She knew that after wolves shift, they're completely naked. "Come this way, all of you."
She lead us all into the house and towards the hallway next to the bathroom. Inside the house hasn't changed one bit. I couldn't believe it. Even my old room was the same. I could see the pink wallpaper and the white dresser from the hall. To be honest, it felt kind of good to be back in the homeland.
My mom handed all of us a towel. I was amazed by how many towels she had stored in the closet. What does she do that she needs all of those towels?
"Hey mom." I said as I stood up to give my mom a kiss and a hug.
"Hey baby cakes. It's nice to see you again. And I'm surprised that you brought the whole pack."
"Yeah about that..." I said with a guilty expression. "So you see, I ran away like two days ago. And I got kidnapped in the woods. I just wanted to get away for a little while, so I just left without telling anybody. I had to tell Chase to come get me from this warehouse looking place. I was held hostage and I was stuck in a chair. It was awful mom. Then the guy who kidnapped me said that Chase had some type of box. But Chase won't tell me what the box does. So... Yeah." It felt good to get all of that off my chest, but maybe I should've slowed it down a bit.
I looked up to see my mom had a look one her face like 'what?'. It was kind of funny, but this is a serious matter here. I wanted to slowly close her mouth, but I just bust out laughing instead.
"Karsen... If you ever need anything, just go talk to your mate, Chase. Don't ever run away from him again." My mom told me.
"Yeah tell her again Mrs. Grigio." Chase yelled from the other side of the room.
"Oh go eat something Chase." My mom laughed.
"But mom, I need to know about this box. Do you know anything?" I asked worried.
"Well I've heard that long ago, the very first werewolves had this box and left a message in it. Of course it isn't an ordinary box. It's an electrical box. Our ancestors left a message saying something. And I never knew who kept the box. But since you say something about Chase, it might be him. Just be careful love." My mom said.
"Ok thanks mom. That little bit of information you gave me helped... A little bit. But I'm still going to ask Chase about it. I'm curious about this." I said. "But where's dad?"
"Oh he might be sleeping. And I still need to get the groceries off the ground. I hope nobody stole them." She laughed.
It was nice sitting down and talking to my mom. When I was younger, she would always give me advice about who to date, how to handle money, and choosing who to hang out with. Sometimes when I'm in trouble, I wish my mom had told me about it before. My mom was always there for me. Through thick and thin. It sure was good to be back.
