Chase POV

I couldn't understand why somebody would take Karsen because of some box. Did that man that took Karsen know for a fact that I had the box? Who was he? Has he been following me and my family around? Stalking us? I have a feeling deep down in my gut that he had some of his boys take down some of my pack. That didn't sit right with me. I had to find and kill this man.

Being at Karsen's parents house was actually a stress reliever. It was nice to be some place different. Having protection by the previous alpha of Karsen's family was the best. Not having to do all the work for once was great.

In addition to finding a new place for my pack, I also have to explain to Karsen what this box is. I know she really wants to know right now, but I think I should tell her later. The box isn't the real important thing right now. Finding out who took Karsen is the most important.

Karsen and I got to stay in Karsen's old room. It was all girly and glittery, but it was better than sleeping underground in the bunker. Although the bunker had beds, a kitchen, a restroom, and other basic needs for a human in it, I was more comfortable upstairs so I could keep a look out for my pack. And Beta Sam was down there keeping watch.

This morning when I woke up, Karsen was still asleep. I slowly crept out of bed and went to the restroom down the hall. I used the toilet then washed my hands. While drying my hands, I saw my reflection in the mirror. I went closer to the mirror and stared at myself.

I was disappointed in myself. Why couldn't I just tell Karsen about the box? Why did I have to keep a secret from her? Until I could tell the truth, I won't feel happy with myself.

Leaving the restroom, I heard footsteps coming from Karsen's room. I panicked a little, but I thought, for what? If whoever was in the hallway asked me a question I'll just tell them I was using the toilet. Karsen slowly turned the corner and stood still once looking at me.

"Hey sexy." I said trying to grab and pull her into me. It was silent, no words came out of her mouth. "I said hey Karsen." I said again making sure I spoke louder this time.

Still nothing. Did she forget who she was dealing with? I would turn into my wolf, but she's just as powerful as me because she has alpha blood from her dad.

"Karsen." I said in a calm but angry voice. "Don't disrespect me."

"Don't disrespect me boy." Karsen said back rolling her eyes. Now when did I disrespect her?

"How did I Karsen? You started the disrespect when you ran away!" I yelled tired of her attitude.

"Oh I did?" She said with a pose. "You were the reason. Everybody was the reason I ran away!"

I stood there for a second trying to understand what she was talking about. What did the pack and I do to make her leave? We all love her and we wouldn't want anything to happen to her. We ALWAYS, and I mean always watch over her.

"Excuse me?" I said with a confused look on my face.

"You." She said. "I hate it here. I hate that I live like a dog. Why couldn't I be a normal person and never find out about werewolves? I love you Chase, but I hate this lifestyle."

I couldn't believe what she just said. Why is this just now coming up? All these years, and I'm just finding out about this. But I couldn't blame her. I had some secrets too, and I could never get them out.

"Come here." I said to Karsen. I pulled her in closer to me and gave her a kiss on the forehead. "I know that you might not like the things that go on around here, but we love you Karsen. Even if you kept saying that you hate us all, we wouldn't stop loving you."

"You're just saying that." Karsen said as tears rolled down her face.

"No I'm not Karsen. Don't I tell you everyday that I love you? Do I not?"

"I don't know."

"Karsen." I said waiting for her to say the right answer.

"Fine ok, yes you do. And don't get me wrong Chase, I'll do anything for you guys, but if I had a choice I wouldn't be here."

"Well I feel like that sometimes too. Like when we do it I don't always want to, but I like to do it so I just let you rub all over me." I knew I would be able to get a laugh out of Karsen when I said that. "I hate to see you like this Karsen. And if you ever need to get something off your chest, just come talk to me."

"Ok but it's not always easy. You won't even tell me about that box." Karsen said stepping away. It was like her whole mood just changed. I couldn't even hold her for two more seconds because of some damn box.

"Karsen listen." I sighed.

"Yes?" She said with an attitude. There it goes again.

"This box you keep asking me about, it's lost. I don't know where it is." I told her.

"Oh so you do know about the box?" She asked.

"Yes."

"Then why did you lie to me? I need you to tell me everything you know, because I want to know too."

"Well the box has this message. And you have to give some blood and drop it in the box."

"Ok and that's it?" Karsen asked.

"Well if you hadn't interrupted me." I said trying to calm down.

"Sorry, but keep going." Karsen apologized.

"If you are the right one, the one with the most alpha blood, the box will light up and reveal the message. And you know if you have the most alpha blood, then you know you're the strongest. That's why I've kept it a secret. I didn't want anybody to know about it. But I need to find it. When I found out I wasn't the one, I got mad and just left it alone. And whoever gets to light the box up, that also means that you have control over all werewolves. But I left it at the pack house." I said.

"What?! You left it at the house that got torn down?!" Karsen yelled at me.

"Well yeah, but nobody took it... I don't think."

"We need to go back and look for it. Let's get some of the pack Chase."

"Umm..."

"Let's go! NOW!" Karsen yelled.

For the first time, I let Karsen slide by with yelling at me. She was right about this box. I had to find out who was the one that could unlock the box. But I just got tired of asking people to give me blood. I just couldn't stand it. If I keep trying, then I could find the right one.
