I opened my eyes and was greeted by the hot sun shining down on my face. It was a weekend, a hot one at that.

I looked over to Johnny. He was awake now too.

"Morning Johnnycakes." I smiled.

He sleepily rubbed his eyes.

"Man, it was all cold last night and now it's burnin up out here." Johnny grumbled, taking off his jean jacket.

"Let's go see what's for breakfast at the Curtis's." I suggested.

Johnny nodded and we began walking over to their house. When we walked through the door, the whole gang was already there.

Soda was in the kitchen making breakfast. It smelled like waffles. Soda loved waffles.

"Where's Pony?" I asked the gang.

"In his room." Darry said without looking up from his newspaper.

I walked into Soda and Pony's shared room. I saw Ponyboy laying ontop the made bed covers with a small sheet over his body, sleeping in late.

"Hey Ponyboy." I soothed as I sat right next to him.

"Lay with me." He mumbled tiredly.

"I can't Pony. Breakfasts almost ready anyways."

He sat up in the bed rubbing his eyes. He gave me a smile and showered me with kisses as he held me.

"Waffles are ready!" Soda called to everyone.

We all ran into the kitchen, grabbing a plate. Soda was wearing a 'kiss the cook' apron around his torso.

We all sat down to eat and talked about what we could do today. It was a Sunday, so everyone was off work or school.

"Since it's so hot out, why don't we go to the lake?" I suggested.

It seemed everyone's face had lit up since they hadn't thought of it. Dally wasn't too excited about the idea, but he went with it anyways.

We all quickly finished eating our breakfast and changed into something more suitable to swim in.

The guys all put on some trunks and i'd found an old bathing suit i'd left here some time ago.

I put my hair into a Ponytail, out of my face after I changed. I put on a pair of shorts and one of Pony's shirts over my bathing suit. We all grabbed some towels and started walking towards the lake.

The lake wasn't far from the neighborhood, really just right behind it. It was kind of hidden, and surrounded by trees. Really only the gang knows about this spot and we never see anyone there. If there is, then it's not often.

We finally arrived to the lake. We all set our towels down on the old dock and I slipped off the clothes I wore over my bathing suit.

Steve and Soda were the first to jump in. They shouted as they landed in the water.

"Who's splash was bigger?" Steve asked coming up from under the water.

"Hmmm." I thought for a moment. "Soda's." I smiled as I said it knowing Steve would get mad.

He started shouting random things and kept splashing Soda as he slapped the water with his hands over and over. Soda was cracking up as he was getting splashed.

"Y'all need to put on sunscreen." Darry instructed.

Everyone only ignored him, and Two-Bit grabbed a beer bottle, and was the next to jump in, holding his beer in the air as he landed in the water, trying not to get it wet.
